Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Your delayed periods and irregular cycle can be understood through the lens of Ayurveda as an imbalance primarily involving Vata dosha. Vata governs movement and rhythm in the body, including the menstrual cycle. When Vata is aggravated, it can lead to irregularity and delay in menstruation. Hypothyroidism, which you are experiencing, further complicates this as it can disturb Kapha, leading to sluggishness and heaviness, affecting your cycle’s regularity.
The swelling in your belly due to premenstrual symptoms is indicative of Kapha and possibly Ama (toxins) accumulation, which can cause bloating and heaviness. The light and irregular flow you describe suggests a Vata imbalance, leading to inconsistency in the menstrual cycle.
Your low AMH and concerns about fertility may also relate to a depletion of reproductive tissues, which Ayurveda connects to overall nourishment and the balance of all three doshas, particularly Vata and Kapha.
Ayurveda sees these symptoms as interconnected, pointing to systemic imbalances rather than isolated issues. Addressing digestion, stress, and lifestyle will be crucial in restoring balance.
