Your symptoms suggest a Vata–Kapha imbalance in Ayurveda. Kapha aggravation causes nasal congestion, sneezing, mucus blockage, morning heaviness, and dandruff. Vata aggravation contributes to dry skin, constipation, disturbed immunity, and stress sensitivity. This condition is commonly correlated with Pratishyaya (chronic allergic rhinitis). Ayurvedic Management 1. Improve Digestion & Reduce Ama (toxins) Weak digestion often worsens allergies. Drink warm water throughout the day. Avoid: Cold foods/drinks Curd at night Excess sugar, bakery items, fried food Refrigerated food Include: Ginger, black pepper, turmeric Warm soups, cooked vegetables Soaked raisins & ghee for bowel lubrication 2. For Nasal Congestion & Sneezing Morning Routine Steam inhalation with ajwain or eucalyptus once daily. Use 2 drops of Anu Taila or warm cow ghee in each nostril in the morning after steam (Nasya therapy). Gargle with warm turmeric-salt water. Helpful Ayurvedic Medicines Sitopaladi Churna + honey twice daily Haridra Khanda for allergy tendency Triphala Churna at bedtime for constipation and detoxification 3. For Dry Skin & Dandruff Apply warm coconut oil or sesame oil before bath. Use mild herbal shampoo. Increase healthy fats: Ghee Almonds Flaxseed Sleep on time to reduce Vata aggravation. 4. Stress & Lifestyle Correction High stress can trigger chronic allergies. Practice daily: Pranayama (especially Anulom Vilom) 15–20 minutes walking/yoga Deep breathing in early morning sunlight Best Ayurvedic Approach The aim is not only symptom relief but: balancing Vata-Kapha dosha improving digestion and immunity cleansing excess Kapha from respiratory channels correcting bowel habits and stress response With consistent Ayurvedic lifestyle and medicines, chronic allergic rhinitis usually improves gradually over 2–3 months.
The presentation of allergic rhinitis with nasal congestion points toward a classic Vata-Kapha imbalance disrupting the Pranavaha Srotas (respiratory channels). However, your severe dry skin is a crucial clinical clue—it indicates that Vata Dosha and Rookshata (dryness) have become systemic and highly aggravated, likely worsened by the chronic nature of the condition or the long-term use of drying antihistamines or steroid nasal sprays. 1. Primary Internal Formulations (Abhyantara Chikitsa) Because this is a 10-year-old chronic condition (Jeerna Roga), simple single herbs won’t be enough. We need herbo-mineral and deep-acting formulations to modulate immunity and clear the channels (Sroto-shodhana). For the Respiratory System (Rhinitis & Congestion): ••Laxmivilas Ras (Nardiya): 1 tablet (125 mg) twice a day after meals. It is an excellent Rasayana (rejuvenator) specifically for the upper respiratory tract, helping to liquefy thick Kapha and clear nasal blocks. ••Chitrak Haritaki Lehyam: 1 teaspoon twice a day with warm milk or warm water. This classical formulation is highly effective for chronic sinusitis and rhinitis, preventing recurrent allergies. ••Haridra Khanda: 1 teaspoon twice a day with lukewarm milk. Turmeric processed with ghee and spices acts as a potent natural anti-allergic and immune modulator. 2.For the Systemic Dryness (Vata Pacification & Skin Care): ••Gandhak Rasayan: 1 tablet (250 mg) twice a day after meals. It purifies the blood (Rakta Shodhana), improves skin hydration, and addresses the underlying allergic diathesis. ••Pratimarsha Nasya (Nasal Drops): Use Anu Taila or Shadbindu Taila. Warm the oil slightly and instill 2 to 4 drops into each nostril every morning on an empty stomach. ••In Vata-Kapha disorders, the diet must be warm, unctuous (slightly oily), and easy to digest. •What to Favor: •Warm soups flavored with ginger, black pepper, and garlic (excellent for clearing nasal congestion). •Staples cooked with a small amount of cow’s ghee to combat internal dryness. Warm water throughout the day (Ushnodaka) to flush out Ama (toxins). ••What to Strictly Avoid: •Viruddha Ahara (incompatible food combinations like milk with fish or sour fruits). •Refrigerated, cold, or frozen foods and drinks (these instantly provoke Kapha and freeze the sinuses). •Heavy, damp-forming foods like curd (especially at night), banana, and refined flour (Maida). •Kapalbhati & Bhastrika Pranayama: Practice these for 5-10 minutes daily in a clean environment. They generate internal heat (Agni), clear the respiratory tract, and dispel stagnant Kapha. ••Anulom Vilom (Alternate Nostril Breathing): Helps balance Vata and restores normal airflow through the nasal passages. ••Protect the Senses: Avoid direct exposure to cold winds, air conditioners blowing directly on your face, and heavy dust.
