I have been experiencing itching for about a month now, mainly during the night. The itching is not constant throughout the day — in fact, during the daytime I often feel completely normal, especially when I am active or in a cool environment. The symptoms are more noticeable when I am lying down or covered with a blanket. Heat, pressure, or friction (especially around thighs and legs) seem to trigger the sensation. Sometimes there is no visible rash, but I feel an urge to itch or a crawling/irritating sensation on the skin. Recently, my lab results showed that my IgE levels are elevated (around 1500). Earlier, my eosinophil levels were also high but have now come back to normal. Other routine blood tests are within normal range. I also noticed that: - Symptoms get worse at night, especially between 1–4 AM - Cooling the skin or reducing contact (loose clothing) helps - The sensation sometimes exists even without visible itching - It worsened around my menstrual cycle - Antihistamines provide partial relief There was also some dust exposure at home due to remodeling work before the symptoms started. I would like to understand from an Ayurvedic perspective: - What could be the root cause of this condition? - Is this related to “heat” in the body or any dosha imbalance? - What dietary or lifestyle changes can help? - Are there any natural remedies to reduce this night-time itching and high IgE levels? Looking for guidance on how to manage and resolve this holistically.

How long have you been experiencing the itching?:

- 1-2 months

How would you describe the intensity of the itching?:

- Moderate — bothersome at times

Have you noticed any specific triggers for your itching?:

- No clear triggers

What is your typical diet like?:

- Balanced — includes all food groups

How would you rate your stress levels recently?:

- Moderate — some stress but manageable

Do you have any other symptoms accompanying the itching?:

- None — just itching

How is your sleep quality affected by the itching?:

- I have trouble falling asleep because of it

Have you made any changes to your environment recently?:

- Recent remodeling or construction

an Ayurvedic view, this looks like Kandu (itching) caused mainly by Pitta + Kapha dosha vitiation with some Vata involvement at night. Pitta → heat, irritation, worse at night/around periods, aggravated by warmth/blanket Kapha → allergy tendency, high Immunoglobulin E, dust sensitivity Vata → crawling sensation, worse at night, friction sensitivity Dust exposure may have triggered an allergic skin reaction / urticaria-like condition. Take Haridra Khanda 1 tsp twice daily after food with warm water/milk. Good for allergy, itching, high IgE. Gandhak Rasayan 1 tablet twice daily after food. Purifies blood and reduces itching. Arogyavardhini Vati 1 tablet twice daily after food for 2–3 weeks if digestion is sluggish. Neem oil + Coconut oil mix and apply locally at night. If severe itching at night: Avipattikar Churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water. Diet / lifestyle Avoid Spicy, fried, sour foods Curd at night Seafood, peanuts, packaged foods Excess tea/coffee Take Warm water with a pinch of turmeric Bottle gourd, Ridge gourd, Pomegranate, Coriander water 1 tsp Ghee daily to calm Pitta Home remedies Apply cool Aloe vera gel Bathe with Neem leaves boiled water ½ tsp turmeric + honey twice daily As IgE is very high, if itching persists or you develop wheals/breathing issues, consult a dermatologist/allergist to rule out Urticaria or dust allergy.

What you are experiencing is not just a simple skin irritation but a deeper internal imbalance that is expressing through your skin and your observations clearly point towards a specific Ayurvedic pattern When itching becomes more intense at night especially between 1 to 4 AM without a consistent rash and gets triggered by heat pressure and friction along with elevated IgE levels it usually indicates a combined aggravation of Pitta and Vata along with involvement of Rakta dhatu and an over reactive immune response In simple understanding Pitta brings heat and sensitivity into the blood while Vata creates that crawling moving and irritating sensation even without visible lesions and Kapha when involved in the form of allergy reflects accumulation of Ama and hypersensitivity in the system The night time worsening is important because after midnight Vata becomes dominant and when Pitta accumulated during the day combines with Vata it intensifies itching restlessness and that urge to scratch this is why you feel more discomfort when lying down or under a blanket where heat and contact further aggravate the condition Your dust exposure has acted as a trigger which activated this allergic tendency and even though eosinophils have come down the high IgE shows that the immune system is still in a sensitive reactive state and the worsening around menstrual cycle again shows Pitta and Rakta involvement due to hormonal influence So the root cause here is internal heat in the blood subtle toxin accumulation and an over sensitive immune response with Vata aggravation affecting the skin nerves Antihistamines give only partial relief because they suppress the reaction but do not correct this internal imbalance From an Ayurvedic perspective the approach is to cool and purify the blood balance Pitta calm Vata and gradually regulate the immune response Diet plays a major role so you should prefer light cooling and easily digestible foods like old rice wheat moong dal bottle gourd ridge gourd ash gourd coconut water and small quantity of ghee while avoiding spicy fried sour fermented foods curd at night pickles excess tea coffee packaged food non veg for some time and items like brinjal peanuts and bakery products which can increase allergic tendency Keep your hydration proper with water infused with coriander seeds or fennel to reduce internal heat Lifestyle correction is equally important avoid heat exposure hot showers tight or synthetic clothing and use loose cotton clothes especially at night maintain a cool sleeping environment and try to sleep before 11 PM Before sleep applying coconut oil or neem based oil diluted with coconut oil over the affected areas can reduce friction and calm the skin A simple internal support like a pinch of turmeric in warm water at night can help reduce allergic tendency gradually Herbs like neem guduchi manjistha and khadir are traditionally useful for blood purification and immune balance but they should be taken in a personalized manner based on your digestion and body type Since IgE is high gentle detox and blood cleansing under guidance can give very good results rather than aggressive treatments Also calming the mind and reducing Vata through slow breathing or cooling pranayama can help reduce the crawling sensation This condition is reversible with consistency and proper balance your body is showing sensitivity and with the right approach it can return to a healthy stable state

Your symptoms suggest a night-predominant allergic / urticarial / hypersensitive skin irritation pattern, likely triggered after environmental exposure (dust/remodeling), with a tendency toward histamine release and skin nerve sensitivity. In Ayurveda This resembles Pitta-Kapha aggravation with Rakta dushti, and some Vata involvement (crawling sensation, night aggravation, sensory irritation). Pitta → burning/itching worsened by heat Kapha → allergy tendency, raised IgE pattern, damp reactivity Vata → crawling sensation, worse at night, sleep disturbance You can take 1. Haridra Khanda 1 tsp twice daily after meals with lukewarm water Helpful traditionally for itching/allergic tendencies. 2. Neem + Guduchi support If available as standard tablets: Guduchi tablet: 1 tab twice daily Neem tablet: 1 tab once daily after food 3. Avipattikar Churna (if acidity / heat / constipation present) 1/2 tsp at bedtime with warm water 4. Coconut oil external cooling Apply thin layer to itchy areas after bath or before sleep if skin dry. Avoid / Reduce: Very spicy food Fermented foods (some pickles, vinegar-heavy foods) Leftover foods repeatedly reheated Alcohol Processed snacks Excess sugar Tight leggings around thighs Thick blankets causing heat build-up Scratching cycles Please start the above Ayurvedic treatment regularly and observe the response. Follow-up after 2–3 weeks is very important so we can assess your progress and make any necessary adjustments in medicines or dosage. Take care 🌿

This condition is mainly due to Pitta + Vata aggravation with Rakta (blood) involvement: High IgE & dust exposure → indicates allergic tendency (Pitta–Rakta dushti) Night itching (1–4 AM) → Vata dominance time, causing hypersensitivity and crawling sensation Heat, friction, blankets worsen → excess Pitta (internal heat) No rash but itching → Vata affecting skin nerves Worse near menstrual cycle → hormonal + Pitta fluctuation In Ayurveda, this resembles “Kandu” (itching disorder) due to Rakta dushti + Vata-Pitta imbalance Root Cause Accumulated body heat + toxins (Ama) in blood Triggered by dust allergy + environmental change Aggravated at night due to Vata activation Diet Guidelines Follow Pitta-pacifying + light detox diet: Prefer: Coconut water, cucumber, bottle gourd Neem, giloy, aloe vera (in moderation) Warm, light, less oily food Avoid: Spicy, fried, fermented, junk food Excess tea/coffee Sour + salty foods Night curd Lifestyle Corrections Sleep on time (reduces Pitta-Vata aggravation) Wear loose cotton clothes Keep room cool and dust-free Avoid excessive heat, hot showers Practice deep breathing / pranayama daily Natural Remedies Neem + Giloy juice (morning) → blood purifier, reduces IgE tendency Aloe vera juice (empty stomach) → cools Pitta Haridra (turmeric) + warm water/milk → anti-allergic Triphala at night → removes Ama External: Apply coconut oil + camphor or neem oil before sleep Take lukewarm water bath (not hot)

See first thing plz clean all ur bed sheets and blankets thoroughly with hot water. And clean the room. Second sometimes it is associated with something mentally than external or physical. Are u bothered about something or any overthinking thoughts. Plz resolve them if any stress. Then try to ignore the itch for 2 days don’t scratch. U will see that 3 rd day itching reduces. If u need u can take haridra kanda 1/2 tsp with warm milk at night. Apply shatadauta ghrita or chandan paste at itching area. Once get ur LFT done. If there are no visible itching it might not be allergic I feel. Plz follow up for more conselling

My blood work results: Hello Harshitha Kadiri - Complete blood count: Normal. Your red and white blood cells and platelets look healthy, which means no sign of anemia or infection issues based on this test. Your eosinophils are normal.

- Kidney function and electrolytes: Normal. Your kidneys are working well, and your salts and body chemistry are balanced.

- Liver tests: Normal. There is no sign of liver irritation or damage on this panel.

- Blood sugar and diabetes screen (Hemoglobin A1c 5.3%): Normal and well below the 7% goal used for diabetes. This means your average blood sugar over the last 3 months has been in a healthy range.

- Cholesterol panel: normal. Your total cholesterol (175) and LDL “bad” cholesterol (108) . your “good” HDL cholesterol is strong at 67. - - Thyroid test (TSH 2.69): Normal. Your thyroid hormone signal is in a healthy range, so symptoms like fatigue or weight change are unlikely to be from a thyroid problem based on this value.

- Vitamin D (26, low): Abnormal (low) and still below the usual goal of at least 30. This fits with your history of vitamin D deficiency and means you likely need ongoing vitamin D intake (through supplements and/or safe sun and diet) to get this level into the normal range. I recommend taking vitamin d 2000 units daily.

- Iron studies and ferritin: Normal. Your iron stores and iron levels are in a healthy range, which means there is no sign of iron-deficiency anemia contributing to your symptoms such as the itchy rash.

Hello dear, From an Ayurvedic perspective, your symptoms specifically the nighttime aggravation, heat sensitivity, and elevated IgE levels point toward a classic imbalance of Pitta and Kapha doshas, leading to a condition known as Sheetapitta or Udarda (often associated with hives or allergic dermatitis). The “crawling” sensation and nighttime itching indicate Vata-Kapha involvement, while the aggravation by heat and pressure confirms high Pitta (heat) in the blood (Raktha Dhatu). In Ayurveda, high IgE levels are viewed as a buildup of Ama (metabolic toxins) in the lymphatic system. The dust exposure likely acted as a Visha (toxin) that triggered this latent sensitivity. Between 10 PM and 2 AM is the Pitta-dominant period, which explains why the itching peaks when your body temperature naturally rises under blankets. To manage this, you need to “cool” the blood and detoxify the liver. 1. Manjishtadi Kwath: A powerful blood purifier. Dose: 15 ml diluted with 45 ml of lukewarm water, twice daily before food. 2. Vilwadi Gulika: Excellent for neutralizing toxins (especially from dust/allergens). Dose: 1 tablet crushed and taken with water, twice daily after food. 3. Haldhi Capsules (or Haridrakhandam): Specifically targets high IgE and skin allergies. Dose: 1 capsule (or 1 tsp powder) twice daily with warm water. 4.Eladi Keratailam: For external application. Usage: Apply gently over the legs and thighs 30 minutes before a bath. It cools the skin and reduces the “crawling” sensation. Dietary & Lifestyle Tips Avoid “Ushna” (hot) foods like green chilies, fermented items (curd, idli batter), sour fruits, and salty snacks. Bitter and astringent tastes. Include neem, turmeric, cilantro, and pomegranate in your diet. Ensure regular bowel movements to “flush” the excess Pitta out of the system. Use 100% cotton bedding and keep the room well-ventilated. Before bed, wash your legs with room-temperature neem water to prevent the 1 AM flare-up.

Hello, This is most consistent with -Pitta + vata aggravation with blood involvement Along with an allergic tendency (atopy/high IgE) Why this fits your case -Night itching (1-4 AM)-> Pitta time (heat rises internally) -worse with heat, blanket, friction-> pitta + vata -relief with cooling-> confirms pitta involvement -no rash but itching/crawling-> vata (neurological skin sensitivity) -High IgE + dust exposure-> allergic -Worse around periods-> hormonal + pitta fluctuation In Ayurveda terns -Pitta- vata prakopa with rakta dushti leading to itching Treatment goals -cool and purify blood -reduce allergic tendency -calm skin nerve sensitivity -improve internal metabolism -prevent recurrence Internal medicines 1) Mahatiktakam kashaya tablets= 2 tabs twice daily before meals for 8 weeks =strong pitta + rakta pacifier, reduces itching + allergy 2) Gandhak rasayana= 1 tab twice daily after meals =classical anti allergic + skin purifier 3) Triphala tablets= 2 tabs at night with warm water =detox + gut correction (very important in allergies) External care 1) Cooling oil application -Eladi keram= apply lightly before bath or at night =reduces itching, dryness, sensitivity 2) Quickrelief -sandanwood + rose water paste -or aloe vera gel Lifestyle very important -loose cotton clothes -keep room cool at night -lukewarm bath -regular sleep timing Avoid -heat exposure -tight clothing or friction -late nights increase pitta -excess screen time before bed Yoga and Pranayam -sheetali/sheetkari pranayam= cooling effect -anulom vilom= balances vata -10-15 min daily is enough Diet most important Avoid -spicy, fried, oily meals -fermented foods -excess tea, coffee -bakery , sugar -sour + salty excess Include -cooling foods like coconut water -cucumber -bottle gourd -coriander water -Warm but light meals Think= cool + simple + non irritating diet Home remedies -coriander seed water soak overnight, drink in morning -neem water wash mild, external -apply cool compress during itching episode Expected timeline -1-2 weeks= itching intensity reduces -3-4 weeks= night symptoms improve -6-8 weeks= deeper stabilization This is not just a skin problem= it’s allergic tendency + internal heat + nerve sesitivity Do follow Hope this might be helpful Thank you

Your symptoms (night itching, heat sensitivity, high IgE, dust exposure) indicate a pitta + vata aggravation with allergic response (rakta dushti). The timing (1–4 AM), worsening with heat/blanket, and relief with cooling strongly supports this. IgE elevation shows your body is in a hyper-reactive allergic state, often triggered by dust exposure and then maintained by internal imbalance. Good thing is — since there is minimal rash, this is still in a functional stage and reversible. What to do: Avoid triggers: Dust, heat, tight clothes, hot water bath, spicy/sour food, packaged food. Keep skin cool, wear loose cotton clothes. Diet: Prefer cooling and simple food — rice, moong dal, bottle gourd, coconut water. Avoid curd at night, avoid fried/spicy items. Ghar par: Apply coconut oil lightly before sleep (reduces dryness + heat). You can also use neem water wash once daily. Keep bedroom cool and well-ventilated. Mahamanjishtadi kwath – 15 ml with equal water twice daily after food Gandhak rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily after food Haridra khanda – 1/2 teaspoon twice daily after food This will help reduce allergic tendency, purify blood, and control itching. For sleep support: Brahmi vati – 1 tablet at bedtime Within 2–3 weeks, itching intensity should reduce. IgE may take longer (1–2 months) to settle. If itching becomes severe with visible rash or swelling, further evaluation may be needed. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)

From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition is likely Sheeta Pitta (Urticaria/Hives) or a manifestation of Twak Vikara (Skin disorders) involving an imbalance of Pitta (Heat) and Kapha (Fluid/Allergen) doshas, often triggered by Vata (Movement/Dryness) at night. To lower IgE levels and soothe the skin holistically, the focus is on “Blood Purification” and “Pitta Pacification.” • Haridra Khanda: 1 teaspoon with lukewarm water or milk twice a day. • Neem & Manjistha: Capsules or tablets (500mg) of Neem or Manjistha can help clear the “heat” from the blood. • Guduchi (Giloy):boil its stem in water for 10 min then sip it slowly, once a day • Coconut Oil with Camphor: Mix a small amount of edible camphor (Bhimseni Kapur) in virgin coconut oil. Apply this before bed. • Aloe Vera Gel: Applying fresh aloe vera to the thighs and legs provides an immediate cooling barrier against friction. 1.Evening Rinse: Wash your legs and thighs with a decoction of Neem leaves or simply cool water before bed to remove any environmental allergens. 2.The “Air” Rule: Avoid heavy blankets. If you feel cold, use multiple thin cotton layers rather than one heavy, heat-trapping quilt. 3.Liver Support: Since Pitta is processed in the liver, taking 1 teaspoon of Avipattikar Churna at night can help clear excess heat through the digestive tract, preventing it from surfacing on the skin at 2 AM. Dos:- Bitter/Astringent foods (Leafy greens, Gourd vegetables, Pomegranate). Loose, breathable cotton fabrics. Water infused with Coriander seeds or Vetiver. Lukewarm or cool water baths. Don’t:- Spicy, sour (citrus, vinegar), and salty foods. Fermented foods like curd/yogurt. Synthetic, tight, or wool garments, especially at night. Excessive caffeine or very hot beverages. Very hot showers, which trigger histamine release. Do these regularly for 5-6 weeks and you will see results , be consistent , ayurveda works slowly as it works on root cause .

Hello. The intense nocturnal itching you are experiencing is a highly specific neuro-immune reaction. The heavy dust exposure during the recent remodeling introduced microscopic allergens into your system. Your immune system has overreacted to this, which is why your IgE levels have surged to 1500 (indicating a severe state of allergic hyper-reactivity). From an Ayurvedic perspective, this condition perfectly aligns with allergic urticaria, driven by a deep imbalance of Pitta and Vata doshas within the Rakta blood tissue. Here is exactly why your symptoms behave the way they do: The 1–4 AM Peak: In the biological clock, your body’s natural anti-inflammatory hormone (cortisol) drops to its absolute lowest during the middle of the night, allowing histamine levels to surge unchecked. Ayurvedically, 2 AM to 6 AM is the dominant time of the Vata dosha. Vata governs the nervous system, which is why you feel that phantom crawling sensation even when there is no visible rash. Heat and Blanket Triggers: Heat causes physical vasodilation, your blood vessels expand, pushing more inflammatory heat and allergic toxins directly to the surface of the skin. Cooling the skin naturally constricts these vessels, providing immediate relief. Menstrual Flare-ups: Menstruation is inherently a Pitta-dominant physiological process. The natural rise in body temperature and hormonal shifts during this cycle systemically push more heat into the blood, exacerbating the itching. ✓Ayurvedic Prescription (For High IgE & Night Itching) 1. Haridra Khanda Dosage: 1 teaspoon twice daily. Time: 30 minutes before lunch and dinner. Vehicle: Mixed with a small amount of warm water or warm milk. 2. Kaishore Guggulu Dosage: 2 tablets twice daily. Time: 30 minutes after meals. Vehicle: Normal water. External Soothing Oil (DIY Formulation) Usage: Mix 50 ml of pure, cold-pressed Coconut Oil with a large pinch of crushed, pure Camphor (Kapur). Action: Apply this lightly to your legs and thighs right before getting into bed. Camphor is highly cooling and acts as a mild local anesthetic. ✓Lifestyle & Dietary Rules 1. Construction dust often drives a massive spike in household dust mites, which thrive in mattresses and exclusively trigger nighttime allergies. You must wash all your bedsheets, pillowcases and blankets in hot water immediately, and ideally vacuum the mattress. 2. Cooling Diet: You must strictly eliminate sour, fermented and sharply spicy foods. Completely stop consuming yogurt (curd), pickles, tomatoes and vinegar-based sauces. These foods instantly spike Pitta and make the blood more acidic, guaranteeing a flare-up of itching a few hours later. 3. Avoid Tight Clothing: Continue wearing loose, breathable cotton to bed. Any friction acts as a mechanical trigger that signals the immune cells in your skin to release more itching chemicals. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma

This pattern isn’t random—it clearly points to a Pitta-Vata dominant Twak vikara with underlying allergic (Atopic) tendency. High IgE + night aggravation + heat/friction trigger = Rakta-Pitta dushti with Vata causing the crawling sensation. The remodeling dust likely acted as the nidana (trigger), but the terrain (your internal imbalance) is what’s sustaining it. Why night (1–4 AM)? That’s when Vata + Pitta dominance increases, skin becomes more reactive, and sensory perception heightens. Heat + covering worsens Pitta; friction activates Vata → itching without rash. Chikitsa Siddhanta (Line of treatment) Pitta shaman + Rakta prasadana Vata anulomana Mild Kandu hara + Allergy modulation Prescription 1. Internal Mahamanjisthadi Kwath – 15 ml + 15 ml water, twice daily before food Haridra Khanda – 1 tsp twice daily after food Avipattikar Churna – 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water Guduchi Satva – 500 mg twice daily 2. External Apply coconut oil + a pinch of camphor before sleep Bath with neem leaves decoction (lukewarm, not hot) Diet regimen (this is where you’ll either fix it or keep suffering) Strictly avoid: Spicy, fried, fermented (pickles, curd at night, bakery junk) Excess tea/coffee Eggs + seafood (for now, high IgE phase) Packaged foods, peanuts (common allergen trigger) Include aggressively: Boiled vegetables (lauki, tori, karela) Old rice, moong dal Ghee (1–2 tsp daily—don’t skip this) Coriander water (soak overnight, drink in morning) Amla (fresh or powder) Lifestyle corrections No hot showers Loose cotton clothing at night Keep room cool (not AC blasting, just comfortable) Sleep before 11 pm—late nights worsen Vata

The following remedies are recommended for purifying the blood and modulating the immune response: 1.Haridra khand 1 tsp twice daily with lukewarm milk before or after meals 2.Gandhak rasayan 2 tab twice daily with water after meals 3.Manjisthadi kwath 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals 4.Avipattikar churna 1 tsp at bedtime with warm water External Remedies for Nighttime Relief To manage the “crawling” sensation and heat before bed: -Eladi Keratailam: Apply lightly over the thighs and legs 30 minutes before a bath or at bedtime. -Neem Water: Wash affected areas with water boiled with neem leaves to remove environmental allergens. Dietary & Lifestyle Changes To prevent the 1 AM flare-up, you must “cool” the system internally: -Strictly Avoid: Sour foods (curd/yogurt at night, vinegar, pickles), fermented items (idli, bread), spicy/fried foods, and seafood. -Favour: Cooling foods like Bottle Gourd (Lauki), Coriander water, Coconut water, and Pomegranate. -Environment: Since your symptoms started after remodeling, ensure you vacuum your mattress and wash all bedding in hot water to eliminate dust mites. -Clothing: Use only 100% loose cotton bedding and sleepwear to avoid friction-triggered itching
