oral lichen planus is often associated with aggravated Pitta + Rakta dushti with stress-related aggravation. Neem can help because it is tikta (bitter), cooling, anti-inflammatory, and rakta-shodhak. However, since your symptoms are severe with pain while eating, neem should be used gently — not too concentrated, as strong neem may irritate sensitive oral tissue. —You can safely try this mild rinse: -Take ½ teaspoon organic neem leaf powder -Add to 1 cup warm water -Boil for 2–3 minutes, then cool until lukewarm -Strain very well through fine cloth/filter -Rinse gently for 30–60 seconds -Spit out (do not swallow regularly) -Use 1–2 times daily only -If burning increases, stop or dilute further. Helpful Ayurvedic support -----rx 1. Khadiradi Vati 1 tab slowly suck 4 times daily after food 2. Yashtimadhu Churna Gargle ½ tsp in lukewarm water gargle twice daily 3. Neem Kwath Mouth Rinse ½ tsp neem leaf powder boiled in 1 cup water, strain and rinse twice daily 4. Coconut Oil Gandush Keep coconut oil in mouth for 2–3 minutes every morning 5. Sutshekhar Ras 1 tab twice daily after food with ghee/honey —Pathya (Avoid) Spicy, sour, very hot foods Tea/coffee excess Tobacco, alcohol, packaged foods Stress, late-night waking —Advice Maintain oral hygiene, avoid trauma to lesions, increase cooling foods and hydration. Duration: 4–6 weeks with follow-up.

Here is how we can address this safely, gently, and effectively using your neem powder and other classical remedies. 1. Using Neem Leaf Powder for Oral Lichen Planus ••Yes, you can absolutely use organic dried neem leaf powder. Neem (Nimba) is highly valued in Ayurveda for its Tikta Rasa (bitter taste), Sheeta Virya (cooling potency), and its potent anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and healing (Ropana) properties. It helps soothe burning sensations and cleanses the oral cavity. ••Because it is highly potent and drying, it should not be used as a harsh scrub or a thick paste on delicate, ulcerated tissue. Instead, a mild, cooling mouth rinse is the best approach. ••How to Prepare a Neem Mouth Rinse (Kwatha/Kashaya) Since you have dried powder, you will make a filtered decoction: •Boil: Take 1 teaspoon of organic dried neem leaf powder and add it to 2 cups of water in a stainless steel pan. •Reduce: Bring it to a boil, then lower the heat and let it simmer until the liquid reduces by half (down to about 1 cup). •Filter thoroughly: Strain the liquid through a very fine mesh sieve or a clean muslin/cheesecloth. This is crucial: you must ensure absolutely no gritty powder particles remain, as they can mechanically irritate your sensitive mouth lining. •Cool: Let the liquid cool down until it is lukewarm or room temperature. Never use hot liquids on active lichen planus. •Rinse: Swish a mouthful of this liquid gently around your mouth for 1 to 2 minutes, then spit it out. Repeat 2–3 times a day. 2. Other Highly Effective Ayurvedic Recommendations To accelerate healing, calm your nervous system, and help you resume eating, we need to strictly focus on Pitta-Vata Shamana (cooling and soothing) therapies. Soothing Mouth Rinses & Holds (Gandusha & Kaval) If the neem rinse feels too astringent or drying, alternate with or switch to these highly soothing options: ••Yashtimadhu (Licorice Root) Water: Boil 1 teaspoon of licorice root powder in water, strain, and use as a rinse. Licorice is a natural demulcent; it creates a protective, sweet, cooling coating over the ulcers and powerfully reduces burning. ••Kshira Gandusha (Milk Holding): Take lukewarm, organic whole milk mixed with a pinch of turmeric or a teaspoon of Mishri (rock sugar). Hold it passively in your mouth for 3–5 minutes without swishing, then spit it out. Milk is an excellent Pitta pacifier and instantly soothes burning mucosa. ••Virgin Coconut Oil (Tila/Narikela Taila): Gently hold 1 tablespoon of organic, virgin coconut oil in your mouth for a few minutes daily. Coconut oil is highly cooling (Sheeta) and helps heal raw tissues. Dietary Adjustments to Stop Weight Loss Because eating hurts, we must focus on calorie-dense, nutrient-rich, soft, and cool foods that do not require heavy chewing or trigger pain: ••Manda, Peya, & Kitchari: Consume well-cooked, watery rice gruels (Peya) or split-mung dal kitchari cooled to room temperature. Mix in a teaspoon of Cow’s Ghee (Ghritha). Ghee is unparalleled in Ayurveda for healing internal ulcers, pacifying Vata-Pitta, and providing clean, easily digestible calories to prevent weight loss. ••Sattu or Ayurvedic Shakes: Mix roasted chickpea flour (Sattu) or blanched, peeled, and blended almond paste into warm or room-temperature milk with a bit of jaggery or rock sugar. This provides smooth, non-irritating protein and fats. ••Strictly Avoid: All green/red chilies, black pepper, tomatoes, citrus fruits (lemons, oranges), vinegar, fermented foods, and dry, scratchy textures (like toast or chips).
