How to treat painful corns on my 89-year-old grandmother's feet without surgery? - #55045

My grandmother is 89 years old and has painful corns on her feet. Allopathy doctors have advised surgery, but she is scared and does not want to undergo any operation due to her age. She is also unable to walk properly because of a slip disc problem. Therefore, she is looking for an Ayurvedic or natural approach. She is ready to follow any Ayurvedic treatment, medicine, oil, or home remedy, but she does not want any surgical procedure. Please suggest what she can do or apply to help cure or reduce the corns on her feet.

At her age, if she is not comfortable with surgery, conservative care can definitely be tried first to reduce pain and pressure from the corns.
The most important thing is to reduce friction and pressure on the feet. She should use very soft cushioned footwear or corn pads and avoid walking barefoot. Do not cut or peel the corn at home.
Daily soaking of feet in warm water for 10–15 minutes can help soften the hard skin. After soaking, gentle application of castor oil or coconut oil over the corn area may help reduce dryness and pain.
If there is swelling or redness, keep the feet clean and dry and avoid excessive pressure.
Kasisadi taila – local application over corns twice daily
Gandhak rasayan – 1 tablet twice daily after food
Yograj Guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily after food
This may help gradually soften the corn and reduce pain and inflammation.
Since she also has difficulty walking and redness/swelling, regular foot inspection is important to avoid infection or ulcer formation.

If she is not diabetic go for agni karma at a pancha karma clinic near you.
Agni karma gives miraculous results for corns.
Till you get one you can use corn tapes. Apply one for 3 days and then scrape the dead cells off using a nail cutter. Scrape deep till you see the first drop of blood. Corns are a collection of dead cells so there will be no pain while scraping. BUT do all of this at home only if she is NOT diabetic.
Avoid wearing hard sole shoes and chappals that is a major cause of corns.
