I've been taking mentat and bhrami for nearly 8 weeks for depression and anxiety. The depression is alot better but the anxiety is worse and for 12 days now, ive been waking up early ( my sleep is poor) vibrating , it slowly calms down after half an hour but I can't get back to sleep. I've now been taking ashwaghand powder before bed for a week to help me sleep for longer and my sleep is worse, often waking at 3:30 am and not getting back to sleep. I've been seeing an ayurveda doctor but she just says be happy things take time. I dont know what to do

Thank you for reaching out and trusting this platform with your Health journey from what you describe your depression as improved after using mentat and Brahmi which shows that your mind is responding well, but the anxiety and early waking indicate that you’re nervous system is becoming to active Mentat and Brahmi or wonderful for focus and mood, but can sometimes sharpen the mind too much making it restless when you need it to be quiet. Taking them later in the day can interfere with sleep. And in some people, even Ashwagandha, though coming for many can create alertness or vivid dreams when the mind is already overstimulated waking at 3:30 AM with a vibrating feeling is usually assign that your stress response is speaking too early and not letting the Mind drop into deeper rest. So take Brahmi and mentat bit early to say lik 8 pm And instead of Ashwagandha, which can be slightly warming and stimulating take Saraswathi aristha That will naturally quite mind and help you sleep through the early hours A simple home remedy is to drink warm milk with a pinch of nut me before bed and rub a little warm ghee or sesame oil, to your soul of your feet and beyond the ears before you sleep-this has a grounding effect and signals the nervous system to slowdown Try to keep the evening calm. Avoid late night phone or TV use and practice Pranayam meditation regularly. On bed, lie in a relaxed position he nail gently to account of four Excel to account of six or eight and try to hold the breath how lmuch is possible Do not lose, hope what you’re feeling is common when mood starts to lift after a long time, the body is rebalancing, but the process sometimes gentle fine tuning with small changes in timing and using more soothing herbs at night The anxiety and early waking can improve significantly within a few weeks.

Thankyou so much for your help 🙏

Experiencing vibrations upon waking could be a sign that your current treatment isn’t addressing your anxiety as effectively as it should. Mentat and Brahmi often support cognitive function and mental clarity, but the combination might not be ideal for everyone, especially if you’re seeing heightened anxiety and disrupted sleep. The introduction of Ashwagandha, although known for its adaptogenic properties, might not have aligned well with your prakriti or dosha, and this could exacerbate symptoms if there’s a mismatch.

Your symptoms need a more comprehensive approach, aligning your doshas specifically. Since you are experiencing anxiety and sleep disturbances, this indicates a possible vata imbalance. For Vata-related imbalances, grounding rituals and lifestyle adjustments can promote stability. Incorporate a routine that includes activities such as yoga or tai chi, focusing on gentle, grounding practices in the evening, which might help you unwind more effectively.

Nutrition-wise, emphasizing warm, cooked meals with moderate heaviness can pacify vata. Think soups, stews, and porridge (sweetened naturally), as they offer comfort and ease digestion. Shatavari or licorice root can also provide additional support in calming the mind when taken in moderation and guided by an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Finally, trying different relaxation techniques before bed, like guided meditation, focusing on deep breathing, encourage a calm state conducive to better sleep. Consider temporarily stopping or adjusting your current herbal regimen under a professional’s guidance if vibrations persist, as herbs too can have varying effects depending on constitutional differences. If symptoms worsen or persist, further detailed evaluation by qualified healthcare professionals is imperative to ensure no underlying conditions are worsening your situation.

Thankyou 🙏

Experiencing vibrations upon waking and sleep disturbances after starting new supplements like Mentat and Brahmi can signal an imbalance in your body. Since Brahmi is a cooling herb, it may be affecting your Vata dosha, which is responsible for movement, including nerve impulses and vibrations. The early morning awakening and inability to return to sleep also suggest Vata imbalance.

To balance your Vata, incorporating a consistent daily routine can be beneficial. Try to wake up, eat, and go to bed at the same time each day. Favor warm, nourishing meals that are slightly oily and grounding, like soups and stews. Avoid cold, dry, and raw foods as they can aggrevate Vata.

Since you’ve been taking ashwagandha, note that it’s generally warming and might be stirring the Pitta dosha, especially if your body constitution is already heat-prone. It could be beneficial to adjust your dosage or timing. Consider taking ashwagandha powder in the morning instead of night, so it doesn’t interfere with your sleep cycle. However, make any changes slowly and observe how your body reacts.

Additionally, integrating gentle yoga and meditation before bed could help calm your nervous system. Focus on deep, slow breathing, especially before bedtime to settle the Vata energy and aid sleep.

Please approach these changes carefully and involve discussions with your treating Ayurveda doctor or another healthcare provider to align adjustments with your specific constitution and condition. Always prioritize safety, especially if symptoms persist or worsen.

Thankyou for your response. I have seen my ayurveda doctor and have stopped the ashwagandha but sleep was still an issue. 3 days later I have stopped both mentat pills. I was taking them for 2 months. Now I am only taking brahmi in the morning. My sleep was great the last two nights with virtually no vibrations. I will carry on with pranayama breathing in the morning after gentle exercise and see how things continue. Thankyou for your advice 🙏
