How effective is the treatment of arthritis in Ayurveda for long-term pain relief? - #13592
I’ve been struggling with arthritis for the past five years, and honestly, it’s getting worse. I’m 54 years old, and the pain in my knees and fingers has become unbearable, especially in the mornings. Some days, even simple tasks like walking up the stairs or opening a jar feel like a challenge. My doctor prescribed painkillers and anti-inflammatory meds, but I don’t want to depend on them forever. I’ve started looking into the treatment of arthritis in Ayurveda, and I’m really curious if it can actually help reduce pain and inflammation naturally. From what I’ve read, Ayurveda focuses on reducing Ama (toxins) in the body and balancing Vata dosha, which is responsible for joint issues. I’ve come across herbal remedies like Guggulu, Shallaki, Ashwagandha, and Nirgundi, which are commonly used in the treatment of arthritis in Ayurveda. But do they actually work? How long does it take to see results? Also, should I take these herbs in powder form, capsules, or as part of a special Ayurvedic diet? I also read that Panchakarma therapies like Abhyanga (oil massage) and Basti (medicated enema) are recommended for joint pain. Has anyone tried them? Are they effective for someone with chronic arthritis, or do they only provide temporary relief? Most importantly, is the treatment of arthritis in Ayurveda enough to stop the condition from getting worse? Can it actually reverse joint damage, or does it just help manage the pain? I don’t expect a miracle, but I’d love to hear from anyone who has successfully used Ayurveda for arthritis and seen real improvement. Would appreciate any personal experiences or recommendations on what worked best!
