Finding it challenging to gain weight despite trying supplements like shatavari and ashwagandha can be puzzling, especially when you're otherwise healthy. In Ayurveda, weight management is not just about adding numbers to the scale; it's about balancing your body's constitution or 'Prakriti,' which involves the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Given your situation, we should first consider your 'Agni,' or digestive fire. If your digestion is weak or irregular, it could be preventing your body from properly assimilating the nutrients needed to gain weight. To enhance your Agni, consider including ginger tea in your daily routine. Drink a cup 20 minutes before meals. It can stimulate hunger and improve digestion. Next, let's discuss dietary habits. Focusing on nourishing, calorie-dense foods that are easy to digest is crucial. Opt for foods like whole grains (quinoa, rice), healthy fats (avocado, ghee, nuts), and protein sources (paneer, lentils). You may want to incorporate 'Khichdi' made with ghee and mung dal into your meals; it's both nourishing and gentle on the stomach. It's also worth noting your past habit of eating slate pencil. This may suggest a mineral deficiency, often linked to 'Pica,' a condition where individuals crave non-food substances. Even if you've stopped, lingering mineral imbalances could affect your nutritional status. A focus on a mineral-rich diet, including leafy greens, almonds, and sesame seeds, may help. You might also consider an Ayurvedic herbal formulation like 'Chyawanprash,' known for boosting immunity and vitality. For Vata balance, calm as much stress as posibble by incorporating daily self-massage with warm sesame oil followed by a warm bath. This can help in grounding and revitalizing your dosha balance, promoting overall weight gain. Consistency is key in Ayurveda. Try maintaining these practices daily for at least a few months to observe any changes. However, if you continue to see no improvements, it might be wise to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized assessment. Health and well-being are unique to every individual, and sometimes it takes tailored solutions to achieve the desired balance.
