How can I increase my libido when dealing with PCOS? - #22207

Paisley

I am really struggling with my libido lately, and I think it might be related to my PCOS. I was diagnosed a few years ago and honestly, it feels like my hormones are just all over the place, you know? I’ve done some research on how to increase libido with PCOS, but it’s so confusing. Sometimes I feel really good, and then other times, I’m just not feeling it at all. I tried some herbal supplements I read about, but they didn’t help much. I also noticed that my cycles can be really irregular which just adds to the stress. Is there a specific diet or some Ayurvedic remedies that focus on how to increase libido with pcos naturally? I don’t wanna go the hormone therapy route if I can avoid it, so I’m really looking for some holistic ways to boost my libido. It would help to hear from others who have been in similar situations. I know it’s not just about the physical side of things but also the emotional and mental aspects too. Anyway, I am open to suggestions and just need some guidance on this! Thanks for reading!

Libido, especially with PCOS, can be significantly affected by hormonal imbalances. Ayurveda provides a holistic view that looks at the root cause, and there are several approaches you can try to improve your libido naturally. First, focusing on diet is key. Incorporate more sattvic foods, which are fresh, whole, and unprocessed. Think about adding more vegetables like leafy greens, zucchini and herbs like coriander, which are nourishing and balancing. Avoid kapha-aggravating foods such as icy drinks, excessive dairy and sweets, as PCOS tends to align with a Kapha and Vata imbalance. Spice up your life with ginger and cinnamon; these increase agni (digestive fire) which is vital for balancing hormones. Exercise, though sometimes a motivation killer with PCOS, is crucial. Gentle yoga and pranayama breath work help reduce stress and improve blood circulation, which can boost libido. Aim for consistency rather than intensity, and find what you enjoy to make it sustainable. Consider herbs known in Ayurveda for their aphrodisiac properties like Ashwagandha and Shatavari. Ashwagandha helps with stress and mood regulation, which are central to libido, while Shatavari is particularly beneficial for women’s reproductive health. It's essential to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner to determine the right dosage and timing for these herbs, to avoid complications. Don’t underestimate the importance of emotional and mental health. Mindfulness and meditation can aid in reducing stress which contributes indirectly to improving sexual health. Spend time connecting with your body through these practices, it can hugely shift how you feel physically and mentally. Lastly, ensure adequate hydration and sufficient sleep. Dehydration and fatigue can dampen anyone's energy and mood, including your desire to connect intimately. Rest adequately, ideally establishing a routine with set wake and sleep times. While these methods require patience and consistency, they provide a natural and holistic approach that respects your body’s rhythms. However, don’t delay consulting with a healthcare professional if symptoms persist, as they can offer additional support or rule out other underlying conditions.
