Persistent issues with gas, acidity, and indigestion often indicate an imbalance in your digestive fire, known as “Agni,” which is crucial in Ayurveda for proper digestion and metabolism. Considering you’ve been using Kumari Asava and Abhayarishta without noticeable improvement, there might be a need to reassess your approach. Firstly, it’s crucial to identify and adjust any dietary habits that might be aggravating your condition. Avoid gas-producing foods like beans, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and excessive dairy products. Spicy, fried, and processed foods can also contribute to increased acidity. Introducing more wholesome, easily digestible foods, such as cooked vegetables, moong dal, and khichdi, should help to soothe the digestive system.
Incorporate the practice of drinking warm water throughout the day to balance your digestion. You can enhance its effect by adding some ginger slices or a pinch of cumin seeds before boiling. This aids in reducing gas and bloating.
Focusing on regular meal timings is also essential. Eating at irregular times can disturb your digestive rhythm, so aim to have your meals at the same time each day.
At bedtime, consider taking a mixture of a teaspoon of Triphala powder with warm water. This classical formulation is beneficial for balancing the digestive system and aids in regulating bowel movements. Take this for at least 3 months to gauge its efficacy.
Including lifestyle changes like regular yoga or pranayama can notably benefit your situation. Specific postures like Vajrasana are well-known for aiding digestion and should be practiced daily after meals.
Lastly, it might be beneficial to consult with an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique constitution or ‘Prakriti’. Regular follow-ups are advisable to assess progress and make necessary adjustments. While exploring these Ayurvedic measures, remain in touch with your gastrology doctor to ensure all angles are addressed.
Considering your condition, it’s clear that this involves a long-standing imbalance, potentially related to aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas. Both doshas can lead to issues like gas, acidity and digestion problems when not balanced. Your current body constitution also gives insights; your low weight for height suggests a Vata dominance or imbalance which often manifests in such digestive disturbances.
First, focusing on diet is crucial. Begin with simple, digestible foods. Include warm, cooked meals such as khichdi made of rice and mung dal, seasoned with cumin and turmeric. Avoid raw foods, excessive caffeine, spicy and oily meals which can further aggravate Vata and Pitta.
Hydration also plays a key role. Sipping on warm water throughout the day can help ease digestion and alleviate gas. Consider incorporating herbal teas like ginger tea, or boiled cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds which are known to soothe the digestive tract.
Routine-wise, make sure to have meals at the same time daily, and avoid late-night dining, which is taxing on digestion. After meals, take a short walk of 15 minutes; it’s believed to support the digestive process.
Ayurvedic remedies such as Triphala churna at bedtime can be more effective for your situation than kumariasav and abhyarista. Triphala helps in regulating bowel movements and detoxifying the body’s channels.
Your weight suggests the need for nurturing the dhatus (tissues). Ghee (clariied butter) can be gradually reintroduced into the diet, as it is beneficial in balancing Vata.
If you still find no relief, consider further consultation specifically within the Ayurvedic tradition, to delve deeper into your prakriti and vikruti (balance and imbalance states), as years of digestive distress might require tailored intervention. It’s important to followup if these preliminary interventions do not bring expected relief, as they are basic adjustments and more specific guidance might be necessary.
