what does argan oil do for hair - #37626

Grace

I am really struggling with my hair lately. It's been super dry and frizzy, and I just feel like nothing is working! A friend mentioned something about argan oil and said I should look into it. Honestly, I don't know much about it, like what does argan oil do for hair, really? I've tried a bunch of products and treatments that promised to fix my hair but nothing seems to last. I read online that argan oil can help with moisture and shine, but I’m sceptical; will it actually do those things? Do I just put it on my hair after I wash it, or is there a special way to use it? And what about the results people talk about? I've seen people say it made their hair so much better, but is that for real or just marketing? Also, my scalp can be kinda flaky sometimes, and I wonder if what does argan oil do for hair can help with that too. Like, does it do anything for the scalp? I mean, I’m open to trying natural remedies and all, but kind of feeling overwhelmed. If anyone has experienced using argan oil for their hair, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Argan oil, often labeled as “liquid gold,” has gained a reputation for benefiting hair, particularly because of its rich composition of essential fatty acids, vitamin E, and antioxidants. From an Ayurvedic perspective, argan oil can be particularly helpful in balancing vata dosha, which when aggravated, can lead to dryness and frizziness in hair. The moisture and nourishing properties of the oil can indeed aid in combating these issues.

When using argan oil, apply a small amount to your fingertips and gently massage it into the lengths of your hair, ideally after washing, while your hair is damp. This helps seal in moisture and offers a protective layer against external damage. To address frizz, focus especially on the ends, where the hair tends to be driest. Additionally, regular use can enhance lustre and manageability; however, its effects can vary depending on your hair type and the extent of damage.

If your scalp is flaky, argan oil may offer some relief due to its soothing and hydrating qualities. A gentle scalp massage prior to washing your hair can help increase circulation and moisturization, potentially reducing dryness and itchiness. However, be mindful not to overdo it; too much oil can make hair appear greasy.

It’s important to be patient and consistent with your application, as natural remedies sometimes take time to show significant results. Be wary of exaggerated claims; products may promise immediate transformations, it’s not uncommon for results to be gradual and subjective.

For a deeper treatment, consider using argan oil as an overnight hair mask. Apply generously, wrap your hair in a towel or shower cap, and wash it out thoroughly in the morning with a gentle shampoo.

To strengthen the revitalizing process, complement the oil treatment with a diet that includes omega-3 fatty acids, amla, and herbs that support your hair health. Incorporating these practices consistently may bring about the improvement you seek. But remember, it’s also helpful to consider consulting a healthcare professional for a more thorough evaluation of your specific scalp and hair condition.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
