does masturbation stop height - #38510

Benjamin

I am really worried about something that’s been on my mind for a while now. Like, I am 17 and still waiting for growth spurts, you know? I feel like everyone around me is getting taller, while I seem to just be stuck. My friends joke that I've hit my max height already, which is super frustrating. I heard from someone that maybe “does masturbation stop height?” And it kinda freaked me out. I guess I’ve been doing it somewhat regularly, but I never thought it could affect my growth. I mean, I just turned 17 a few weeks ago, and isn't there still time for me to grow? Not sure if my current height of 5'5" is something I should start accepting. I noticed lately that my appetite hasn’t been as strong, but my doctor says I’m still healthy. Like, could that be tied to this idea that “does masturbation stop height”? I get varying opinions from all over the place, but honestly, I want something clear and evidence-based. How should I think about this whole situation? Should I be concerned or do I just chill and wait for things to happen naturally?

Masturbation does not stop height growth or affect it in any negative way. This myth has been debunked time over, as there is no scientific or physiological basis for the belief that masturbation impacts a person’s growth. Your height is primarily determined by genetic factors, and while lifestyle can have some impact, masturbation is not one of those factors.

Height growth typically continues until the growth plates in your bones fuse, which usually happens by late teens to early twenties. Thus, at 17, there’s still potential for growth. Your concern about appetite is critical though. Ayurveda places a lot of importance on Agni, or digestive fire. A reduced appetite may indicate an imbalance in your digestive system, possibly affecting nutrient absorption that aids growth and development.

From an Ayurvedic perspective, it could be helpful to focus on balancing your Vata dosha, often responsible for irregularities during growth phases. You might incorporate warming spices like ginger, cinnamon, or cumin in your meals to enhance appetite and improve digestion. Make sure you eat at regular times each day, focusing on warm, cooked meals that are easy to digest. Practice yoga and stretching exercises daily. They promote flexibility and improve posture, sometimes helping maximize your height potential.

Remember, stress can impact your physical health, so it’s crucial to manage it effectively too–perhaps with meditation or breathing exercises. Also, adequate sleep is vital for growth, ensuring you get 7-9 hours per night. If concerns about growth persist, you might consult a healthcare professional to explore any underlying issues further.
