When tackling both premature greying and hair fall, Ayurveda suggests considering the root cause, which often ties back to imbalances in the pitta and vata doshas. Premature grey hair is frequently linked with aggravated pitta dosha, while hair fall can be associated with imbalances in both vata and pitta.
First, focus on your diet as it’s a cornerstone in Ayurveda. Incorporate foods that pacify pitta, such as sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes. Drink a glass of fresh amla (Indian gooseberry) juice daily, if feasible, because it’s a phenomenal natural source of Vitamin C and can help rejuvenate your hair health. Shatavari, asparagus racemosus, also benefits hair health by balancing pitta. Have a daily intake of a small teaspoon, ideally with warm milk in the evening.
Applying hair oil regularly is crucial. Use Bhringraj (Eclipta alba) oil for the scalp, as it’s known to support hair strength and promote natural black tone. Massage gently, allowing the oil to penetrate, thus soothing the scalp and supporting healthy hair follicles. Leave it overnight or atleast for a few hours before rinsing. You can also prepare a Bhringraj paste with the leaves and apply it directly for its cooling effects.
An essential lifestyle tip is ensuring that your stress levels are managed, as mental stress can further aggravate hair conditions. Try including pranayama and meditation in your daily routine, particularly bhramari and anulom vilom. They’re beneficial for reducing stress and balancing doshas.
Remember, excessive use of heat styling, bleaching, and chemical treatments exacerbate hair issues. Opt for natural shampoos and conditioners, possibly those containing amla, bhringraj , or neem for best effects. It’s also advisable to check your water quality – hard water can impede hair health.
Improving your digestion and elimination through triphala powder can also be helpful. A teaspoon at night with warm water might alleviate effects of toxins which indirectly play a part in hair issues. Remember, the key lies in consistent application of these practices and observing changes over time – natural remedies often require patience. If symptoms persist or worsen, consider consulting with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for comprehensive diagnosis and specialized care.
