HELLO,

You area mother of a young child, sleeping late and likely missing rest. This disturbs your body’s vata dosha, which governs movement, flexibility, dryness, ad the nervous system

When vata becomes aggravated it causes -dryness in skin and joints -cracking sounds (tak-tak) due to dryness in the joints (lack of lubrication of sheshak kapha) -pain or stiffness (due to vata obstructing smooth movement of joints) -tremors or shaking hands (when vata affects the nerves and muscles) -itching and dry skin (as dryness reduces natural oil and increases sensitivity)

After delivery, most women naturally experience some vata imbalance because of -blood and fluid loss during childbirth -sleeplessness and irregular meals -mental stress - physical strain of childcare

When not corrected, this imbalance may continue for years

It sounds like you’re experiencing symptoms that may be related to a Vata dosha imbalance, characterized by dryness, joint sounds, and nervous system sensitivity. Aim to introduce more warmth, moisture, and routine in your lifestyle and diet to calm Vata. Let’s address each concern step by step.

For the itching and dryness in your fingers, apply a nourishing oil like sesame or coconut oil. Do this twice daily, particularly after showering when your skin can absorb better. Warm the oil slightly before applying it as this enhances penetration and soothing effects. Add some turmeric powder to the oil to reduce any potential inflammation due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Joint pain and the “tak tak” sound might benefit from including more healthy fats in your diet, such as avocado or ghee, which lubricate the joints. Turmeric milk, a warm mixture of milk with a pinch of turmeric and a drop of honey before bed, might alleviate joint discomfort while also promoting better sleep.

Shakiness in the hands could be from fatigue or nutrient deficiencies given your late sleeping patterns. As you adjust your daily routine, make it as regular as possible, even with the demands of motherhood. Try ensuring consistent meal times and incorporate more grounding foods like sweet potatoes, warm soups, and stews. Almonds soaked overnight and consumed could boost energy levels.

Given your sleep pattern disturbances, try warm foot soaking in magnesium-rich Epsom salts before bed, and light, calming stretches to improve sleep quality. Ashwagandha or Brahmi supplements, under professional guidance, may offer additional support for stress and enhance relaxation.

If symptoms continue even with lifestyle changes, consult with a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying conditions such as deficiencies or arthritis. Remember, balance and routine are key to managing Vata disorders, especially when life’s demands may impede on self-care.
