After childbirth and with disturbed sleep, Vata dosha becomes aggravated, leading to such complains. Home & Ayurvedic Remedies

1. Oil Massage (Abhyanga) – Daily or at least 3–4 times/week

Warm sesame oil or mahanarayan oil.

Massage gently on hands, fingers, arms, and joints before bath.

Keeps Vata balanced, reduces dryness, improves circulation, and calms nerves.

2. Soothing Night Routine

Before bed: apply a few drops of cow ghee or sesame oil on soles and palms.

Drink warm milk with a pinch of turmeric and nutmeg at night for better sleep and joint nourishment.

3. Diet Tips

Avoid dry, cold, or stale foods.

Eat warm, freshly cooked meals with ghee or sesame oil.

Add:

Almonds (4–5 soaked daily)

Black sesame seeds (1 tsp/day)

Drumstick soup or spinach (for calcium)

Dates, raisins, and figs (for iron and energy)

4. Herbal Support

You may take (after consulting an Ayurvedic physician if breastfeeding):

Dashmoolarishta – 2 tsp after meals with equal water, twice daily (balances Vata & postnatal weakness)

Maharasnadi Kadha – 2 tsp after meals (for joint pain & sound)

Shatavari powder – ½ tsp in warm milk at bedtime (for strength and trembling)

Triphala at night (if constipated)

5. Vitamin & Mineral Check

If you haven’t recently, get a simple blood test:

Vitamin D3

Calcium

B12

Thyroid (T3, T4, TSH) Deficiency in any can cause dryness, muscle shakiness, and pain.

2 Guggulutiktakam Ghrita. 1 tsp with warm water or milk once daily before breakfast (Nourishes joints, relieves dryness and itching (excellent Rasayana for mothers))

3 Ashwagandhadi Lehyam. 1 tsp twice daily after food (Improves strength, sleep, and nervous stability)

✅EXTERNAL CARE

1. Abhyanga (Oil Massage) Use Ksheerabala Taila or Dhanwantharam Taila. Warm slightly and massage your hands, wrists, and elbows daily before bath. Focus on gentle circular motion around the joints.

2. Nadi Swedana (Steam Fomentation): After massage, expose the joints to mild herbal steam (or warm towel compress). Reduces stiffness and improves mobility.

3. Moisturization: Apply Aloe vera gel or coconut oil at night to prevent skin dryness and itching.

✅Lifestyle Guidance

✅Include- Take adequate rest whenever possible; even short naps help restore Vata balance. Include ghee, milk, sesame oil, almonds, and dates in your diet. Perform gentle wrist and finger stretching daily. Practice Anulom Vilom and Bhramari pranayama morning/evening.

❌Avoid caffeine, spicy and dry foods, cold drinks. overuse of mobile phone or repetitive hand strain. Fasting or skipping meals.

✅ Home Remedies

Warm Milk with Ghee & Turmeric: Take 1 cup warm milk with ½ tsp ghee and a pinch of turmeric at bedtime for deep nourishment and better sleep.

Sesame Oil Hand Massage: Before sleep, massage sesame oil on palms and wrists to reduce tremors.

Fenugreek Water: Soak 1 tsp methi seeds overnight, drink the water next morning — reduces inflammation and improves joint lubrication.

✅ DIET MODIFICATION ✅ Include:

Moong dal khichdi, rice gruel, warm soups, milk with nutmeg or ashwagandha. Ghee, sesame seeds, soaked almonds, sweet fruits, and green vegetables.

❌ Avoid: Dry snacks, packed foods, fermented or sour items, excess tea/coffee.

With consistent internal medication, warm oil massage, and a nourishing diet, your dryness, itching, and joint sounds will gradually subside within 3–6 weeks.

Please prioritize sleep and self-care — restoring balance to Vata will naturally ease your symptoms and enhance vitality.

Wishing you a good health😊

HELLO,

You area mother of a young child, sleeping late and likely missing rest. This disturbs your body’s vata dosha, which governs movement, flexibility, dryness, ad the nervous system

When vata becomes aggravated it causes -dryness in skin and joints -cracking sounds (tak-tak) due to dryness in the joints (lack of lubrication of sheshak kapha) -pain or stiffness (due to vata obstructing smooth movement of joints) -tremors or shaking hands (when vata affects the nerves and muscles) -itching and dry skin (as dryness reduces natural oil and increases sensitivity)

After delivery, most women naturally experience some vata imbalance because of -blood and fluid loss during childbirth -sleeplessness and irregular meals -mental stress - physical strain of childcare

When not corrected, this imbalance may continue for years

TREATMENT GOALS -pacify aggravated vata -lubricate and nourish tissues -improve joint strength and flexibility -nourish nerves and skin -enhance overall energy and sleep

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) DASHMOOLA KASHAYA= 20 ml twice daily before meals with equal warm water for 6 weeks = reduces vata in joints, relieves pain, improves flexibility

3) KSHEERBALA TAILA NASYA= 2 drops of warm oil in each nostril in moring =lubricates nerves and improves head - neck vata balance

DIET -warm, soft, freshly cooked meals -cow’s milk with ghee, turmeric, and cardamom at ight -khichdi,moog dal soup, rice with ghee, vegetable soups -cooked carrots, pumpkin, ridge gourd, spinach lightly spiced -sessame oil or ghee for cooking -soaked almonds, dates, or raisins daily -herbal teas= ginger, cumin, coriander, fennel

AVOID -cold, dry, raw or processed foods -stale food, leftover, salads , dry cereals, puffed rice -excess tea, coffee, and aerated drinks -sour curd, dry snacks, ad fried food at ight

LIFESTYLE MODIFICATIOS -maintain a regular sleep routine, even if short naps during day -avoid cold exposure to hands and joints -keep body warm- wear gloves in cold weather -avoid excessive work with water or detergents (wear gloves) -use lukewarm water for bathing -avoid skipping meals or fasting -keep mind calm- stress worsens vata

YOGA ASANAS -tadasana -vrikshasana -marjarisana= excellent for joints -pawanmuktasana -shavsana

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= 10 min daily -bhramari= 5 rounds, to calm mind and nerves -avoid forceful breathing like kapalbhati in this stage

HOME REMEDIES -Turmeric + coconut oil paste- apply on itchy areas 15 min before bath -Warm sesame oil massage before sleep on joints and hands -Soaked fenugreek seeds eat 1 tsp soaked overnight daily good for joints -Milk + ghee drink at night- nourishes nerves, improves sleep, reduces dryness -Dryness relief drink- boil water with 1/4 tsp fennel + cumin + coriander seeds; sip warm through the day

Your condition is reversible vata imbalance- common among young mothers With care, warmth, nourishment, and regular routine, you can recover completely The key is not to ignore dryness , weakness, or sleeplessness as they are early signs of body depletion

Healing will take around 6-8 weeks with regular steps followed as advised

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

It sounds like you’re experiencing symptoms that may be related to a Vata dosha imbalance, characterized by dryness, joint sounds, and nervous system sensitivity. Aim to introduce more warmth, moisture, and routine in your lifestyle and diet to calm Vata. Let’s address each concern step by step.

For the itching and dryness in your fingers, apply a nourishing oil like sesame or coconut oil. Do this twice daily, particularly after showering when your skin can absorb better. Warm the oil slightly before applying it as this enhances penetration and soothing effects. Add some turmeric powder to the oil to reduce any potential inflammation due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

Joint pain and the “tak tak” sound might benefit from including more healthy fats in your diet, such as avocado or ghee, which lubricate the joints. Turmeric milk, a warm mixture of milk with a pinch of turmeric and a drop of honey before bed, might alleviate joint discomfort while also promoting better sleep.

Shakiness in the hands could be from fatigue or nutrient deficiencies given your late sleeping patterns. As you adjust your daily routine, make it as regular as possible, even with the demands of motherhood. Try ensuring consistent meal times and incorporate more grounding foods like sweet potatoes, warm soups, and stews. Almonds soaked overnight and consumed could boost energy levels.

Given your sleep pattern disturbances, try warm foot soaking in magnesium-rich Epsom salts before bed, and light, calming stretches to improve sleep quality. Ashwagandha or Brahmi supplements, under professional guidance, may offer additional support for stress and enhance relaxation.

If symptoms continue even with lifestyle changes, consult with a healthcare provider to rule out any underlying conditions such as deficiencies or arthritis. Remember, balance and routine are key to managing Vata disorders, especially when life’s demands may impede on self-care.
