Finding blood in your urine, known as hematuria, can have various causes and shouldn’t be ignored. It’s important to follow up with your healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause, whether it’s related to urinary tract infections, kidney stones, or other conditions. Meanwhile, Ayurveda can offer supportive measures. In Ayurveda, hematuria may be linked to an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which could cause excessive heat in the body affecting the urinary system.

Cranberry juice, even when concentrated, is typically used in Western medicine to prevent urinary tract infections due to its potential for discouraging bacterial adherence to the bladder walls. However, its effect might be limited if infection is present or if there’s another cause. Be cautious that excess cranberry juice could exacerbate Pitta dosha due to its acidic and heating properties.

In terms of Ayurveda, consider incorporating the following measures, while seeking professional medical assessment:

1. Hydration - Drink plenty of lukewarm water to help flush toxins and maintain proper kidney function. Avoid very cold or icy drinks, as these can hinder digestive fire (agni).

2. Cooling Foods - Integrate foods that have cooling properties such as cucumber, coconut water and watermelon, which can naturally pacify Pitta.

3. Herbs - You might find relief through Ayurvedic herbs like Punarnava and Gokshura, known for their renal supportive functions. These are often available as powder or supplements; it’s crucial to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for correct dosage suited to your prakriti.

4. Meditation and Yoga - Reducing stress through meditation, yoga, or pranayama can assist in overall balance.

Remember not to delay seeking urgent medical care for hematuria, particularly if accompanied by pain, fever, or other concerning symptoms. Herbal and lifestyle recommendations can offer support but shouldn’t replace conventional treatment if needed.
