Taking more than the prescribed dose can cause: - Excessive purgation (loose motions, dehydration) - Abdominal cramps or worsening bloating - Weakness if continued for several days So, it’s not advisable to increase the dose beyond what your physician or the label recommends.
For Mild Constipation (less than 1 week, with bloating)— Instead of increasing Navkarshik Churna, Ayurveda suggests gentler remedies: - Triphala Churna: 3–5 g at bedtime with warm water. - Isabgol (Psyllium husk): 1–2 tsp with warm water or milk at night. - Castor oil (Eranda Taila): 1 tsp with warm milk occasionally, if constipation is stubborn.
Dietary tips: - Warm water sips through the day. - Add ghee (1–2 tsp) in meals. - Fruits like papaya, figs, soaked raisins. - Avoid excess junk and cold foods.
Do NOT increase the dose of Navkarshik Churna. It is unsafe to use it as a quick fix for constipation. It contains a potent herb called Katuki. In high doses, this causes severe abdominal griping (pain) and watery diarrhea. Navkarshik is bitter and drying. Since you already have bloating, increasing the dose will dry out your intestines further, creating a cycle of gas and constipation.
The Correct Remedy (For Constipation + Bloating) Mix 1 teaspoon of Cow Ghee in a cup of hot milk. Drink at bedtime. If Ghee doesn’t work, take 1 teaspoon of Castor Oil with warm water.
Stick to the prescribed dose of Navkarshik. Use Ghee for the constipation.

Taking more than the recommended dose of Navkarshik Churna can have consequences, particularly if used to address constipation. Navkarshik Churna, an ayurvedic formulation, is traditionally used for treating conditions like gout and other inflammatory joint conditions rather than primarily for constipation. It contains herbs that help detoxify the body and balance the doshas, but using it excessively might disturb your digestive balance.
If you consume too much, you might experience loose stools or diarrhea, as the churna can have purgative effects due to its cooling and laxative properties. It can also exacerbate Vata dosha imbalances, leading to bloating or gas. The body’s different doshas and their balance play a crucial role in maintaining overall health; so it’s essential to adhere to doses prescribed by an Ayurvedic physician tailored to your unique constitution (prakriti).
For constipation relief, consider focusing directly on digestive health through methods more aligned with Ayurveda’s principles. Try incorporating triphala churna – a gentle, traditional remedy known to aid digestion and regularity. Typically, half to one teaspoon mixed with warm water before bedtime can support bowel movements. Drink sufficient warm water throughout the day to maintain hydration and help facilitate bowel function.
Enhance your diet with foods that are high in fiber like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Minimize intake of cold, heavy, and greasy foods that may slow digestion. Also, ensure regular physical activity, and try engaging in some yogic exercises, specifically Pavanamuktasana or Apanasana, which can promote peristalsis and alleviate constipation.
If constipation persists, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for a personalized assessment. They can draft a more specific treatment plan that may include dietary adjustments, herbal supplements, or detoxification therapies suited to your specific body type and condition. Always prioritize safety and seek professional guidance before making significant changes to your health regimen.
