Doctors' responses

Hlo,

Using castor oil on the penis during sex is not recommended, especially for penetrative sex. Here’s a clear, balanced explanation so you can decide safely.

✅ Possible perceived benefits (short-term) - Acts as a natural lubricant (thick, long-lasting) - May reduce friction and dryness - Some people feel it gives slightly delayed ejaculation due to thickness These are subjective effects, not medically proven.

⚠️ Risks & safety concerns (important) 1. Irritation & allergy risk Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, which can cause: - Burning, itching, redness - Penile skin irritation - Vaginal irritation in the female partner Since you’re not sure about allergies, risk is higher.

2. Not safe for vaginal health Can disturb vaginal pH May increase risk of: - Yeast infection - Bacterial vaginosis - Post-coital burning or discharge

3. Unsafe with condoms ❌ Do NOT use with latex condoms - Castor oil weakens latex - Greatly increases risk of condom breakage Increases risk of pregnancy & STIs

4. Not sterile Oils can trap bacteria Risk of UTI or genital infections, especially with frequent use

❌ When it should NOT be used - If partner has vaginal sensitivity, infections, pregnancy - If using condoms - If either partner has itching, burning, cuts, or rashes - For anal sex (higher infection risk)

✅ Safer alternatives (recommended) - Water-based lubricant (best & safest for both) - Silicone-based lubricant (long-lasting, condom-safe) - Medical-grade lubricants are pH balanced & allergy tested

If someone still wants to try (harm-reduction advice) ⚠️ Not advised, but if used: Use cold-pressed, pure castor oil Patch test on skin 24 hrs before Avoid internal vaginal use Stop immediately if any burning/itching occurs
