I’ve been experiencing noticeable hair loss over the past few months. My hair feels thinner, and I see more hair falling out when I wash or brush it. There haven’t been any major changes in my routine, but I have been under stress and sometimes feel tired. HELLO,

CAUSES OF HAIR LOSS AND THINNING

DOSHA INVOLVEMENT 1)VATA- dryness, frizzz, breakage, dandruff 2)PITTA- heat in scalp, early greying, inflammation, hair root destruction 3)RAKTA DUSHTI- toxin accumulation-> weakened follicles 4)ASTHI DHATU KSHAYA- since Kesha are considered upadhatu of asthi, when rasa->rakta->mamsa->meda->asthi conversion is impaired, hair loss results 5)MAJJA KSHAYA- chronic cases(bald patches) may reflect deeper dhatu depletion

INTERNALLY START WITH

1. NARASIMHA RASAYANA- 1 tsp with milk, morning empty stomach= 90 days =asthi-majja rasayana, hair growth (ref- bhaishajya ratnavali)

2. BHRINGRAJ CHURNA- 5gm + ghee at bedtime for 2-3 months =hair growth, scalp nourishment(ref- Nighantu Ratnakar)

3. CHYAWANPRASHA AVALEHA- 1 tsp twice daily with warm milk for long term 3-6 months =rasa-rakta dhatu and immunity(ref- charak Samhita)

4. DRAKSHADI KASHAYA- 30 ml before meals with water for 4-6 weeks =pitta-rakta sodhaka(ref- ashtanga hridaya)

5. SAPTAMRIT LAUHA- 500mg with ghee/honey twice daily in morning and night for 1-3 months =eye and hair support, rakta support

6. AMALAKI RASAYANA- 5 gm in the morning with milk for long term =rejuvination, prevents greying and great for immunity

EXTERNAL OIL APPLICATIONS

1. NEELIBHRINGADI TAILA- massage warm oil 30 mins before bath for 4 times/week(ref- sahasra yoga)

2. DHURDHURAPATRADI TAILA- for scalp dryness and dandruff = twice/week(ref- bhaisajya ratnavali)

3. BRAHMI-AMLA OIL- infuse oil with fresh amla and brahmi leaves regularly use

FOR FRIZZ- use coconut or sesame base for INFLAMATION- use amla infused cooling oils

POTENT HERBAL PACKS FOR SCALP

1)CLASSIC HAIR PACK -bhringaraj churna- 1 tsp -amla powder- 1 tsp -hibiscus powder- 1 tsp -aloe vera pulp- 2tbsp Apply 1 hour before bath; rinse with herbal decoction

2)RAKTA- SODHANA SCALP LEPA -Manjistha+lodhra+triphala+sandalwood+rose water =apply during pitta-aggravated stages, especially with itching or scalp redness

ESSENTIAL FOODS -cow milk+ghee= builds Ojas, nourishes dhatu -black sesame seeds= asthi dhatu enhancer -soaked almonds(5-6)= omega 3+ protein -fresh amla(or juice)= rasayana, anti-pitta -moong dal khichdi= easily digestible -curry leaves(raw/chutney)= rich in iron and vitamin c -dates, figs, raisins= rasa dhatu replenishment

LIFESTYLE + DAILY ROUTINES

MORNING ROUTINE -Wake before 6 AM= aligns with brahma muhurtha if possible

-GANDUSHA(oil pulling) with sesame oil= removes ama from head and neck

-NASYA= instill 2 drops of ANU TAILA in each nostril every morning- clears srotas, enhances hair nourishment

-SHIROABHYANGA(Hair oiling)- calms vata, strengthens follicles

-LIGHT YOGA- enhances circulation to scalp

HAIR WASH -use herbal decoctions- shikakai, Geetha, amla, powder boiled and filtered -avoid chemical shampoo, hot water -wash 2-3 times/week max

YOGA ASANA -Adho much svanasana(downward dog)= increases scalp blood flow -Sarvangasana= stimulates thyroid, nourishes head region -Shirshasana= direct blood flow to scalp -Ustrasana, Matsyasana= opens up chest and throat, affects hormonal balance

PRANAYAM -Bhramari= calms mind, improves oxygen to hair roots -Anulom vilom= balances vata- pitta -Sheetali/sheetkari= pitta shamak

MEDITATION -daily 15 mins of Trataka(candle gazing)+ Dhyana can help hormonal and mental factors

SPECIAL HIAR DECOCTION BOIL- 1 tsp bhringaraj, 1 tsp brahmi, 1/2 tsp yashtimadhu, 3 cups water-> reduce to 1 cup->drink daily AM or PM

-Hair regrowth is gradual but certain with Rasaya+ Shamana+ stress correction -Allow 2-3 months minimum for visible results -Follow Ritucharya- Vata-pacifying in winter, pitta-calming in summer -treat the mind and lifestyle as deeply as the body

DO FOLLOW

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

Most likely causes: 1Telogen effluvium – triggered by moderate/chronic stress, fatigue or subtle nutritional gaps (very common & reversible).

2 Early androgenetic alopecia (if family history or male/female pattern thinning).

3 Nutrient deficiency (iron, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, zinc – very frequent in hair loss).

4 Thyroid imbalance (even subclinical hypothyroidism can cause shedding).

Get these blood tests (very important): CBC + Ferritin Vitamin D Vitamin B12 TSH, Free T3, Free T4 Zinc

Ayurvedic supportive treatment 1 Bhringraj Churna – 3 gm morning + night with water (top herb for hair regrowth & stopping fall) 2 Amalaki Rasayana – 3 gm morning with water (antioxidant, strengthens roots) 3 Ashwagandha Lehyam – 5–10 gm night with warm milk (reduces stress & supports energy) 4 Neelibhringadi Taila – warm scalp massage nightly (leave overnight 3–4×/week)

Diet & Lifestyle Add daily: soaked almonds (4–6), dates (2), pomegranate, beetroot juice 100 ml Avoid: excessive tea/coffee, junk, late nights Sleep 10 PM – 6 AM strictly 10 min Anulom-Vilom daily (lowers stress)

Hair fall continuing for many months shows that the problem is developing from inside rather than from shampoo oil or water In ayurveda this usually happens due to pitta aggravation along with gradual weakness of rasa rakta and asthi dhatu Even if food habits look unchanged mental stress tiredness irregular sleep and reduced digestive fire slowly disturb nourishment to the hair roots which makes hair thin weak and causes excess fall during washing or combing This type of hair fall improves once the internal imbalance is corrected and proper nutrition reaches the scalp

For correction you can take bhringaraj churna half teaspoon morning and night with warm water amalaki churna half teaspoon early morning triphala churna half teaspoon at night with warm water and apply neelibhringadi taila or bhringaraj taila gently on the scalp two to three times weekly Blood tests like hemoglobin ferritin vitamin b12 vitamin d and thyroid profile help to rule out deficiencies Avoid excess heat spicy oily food late nights and mental strain and prefer warm freshly cooked food with a little ghee for better absorption and healthy hair regrowth

THANK YOU FOR REACHING OUT AND SHARING YOUR CONCERNS I UNDERSTAND HOW DISTRESSING HAIR FALL CAN FEEL ESPECIALLY WHEN IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW MONTHS FROM AN AYURVEDIC POINT OF VIEW THIS TYPE OF HAIR LOSS IS MOSTLY RELATED TO STRESS PITTAVATA IMBALANCE AND WEAK NOURISHMENT OF BODY TISSUES EVEN MODERATE STRESS CAN PUSH HAIR INTO A SHEDDING PHASE AND TIREDNESS SHOWS THAT ROOT LEVEL STRENGTH IS LOW

FIRST WE NEED TO SUPPORT DIGESTION AND CALM THE NERVOUS SYSTEM BECAUSE WITHOUT THAT HAIR MEDICINES WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY TAKE SIMPLE WARM FRESH FOOD AVOID VERY SPICY FRIED AND PACKED ITEMS SLEEP BEFORE ELEVEN AT NIGHT AND TRY TO KEEP A REGULAR DAILY ROUTINE

FOR MEDICINES YOU CAN START WITH BHRINGARAJASAVA TEN ML WITH EQUAL WATER TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD AMLA CHURNA ONE TEASPOON IN THE MORNING WITH WARM WATER BRAHMI VATI ONE TABLET AT NIGHT AFTER DINNER TO SUPPORT STRESS AND SLEEP IF YOU FEEL MORE TIRED YOU CAN ADD ASHWAGANDHA CHURNA ONE TEASPOON AT NIGHT WITH WARM MILK

FOR EXTERNAL CARE APPLY NEELIBHRINGADI TAILA OR BHRINGARAJ TAILA TO THE SCALP TWO TO THREE TIMES A WEEK GENTLY MASSAGE AND WASH WITH A MILD HERBAL SHAMPOO USE NORMAL WATER NOT VERY HOT

I ALSO STRONGLY ADVISE BASIC BLOOD TESTS LIKE HEMOGLOBIN SERUM FERRITIN THYROID PROFILE VITAMIN B TWELVE AND VITAMIN D BECAUSE IF ANY DEFICIENCY IS PRESENT IT MUST BE CORRECTED FOR HAIR TO REGROW

WITH REGULAR TREATMENT AND CARE HAIR FALL USUALLY REDUCES IN SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS AND NEW HAIR GROWTH IS SEEN IN A FEW MONTHS PLEASE BE PATIENT AND CONSISTENT AND FEEL FREE TO SHARE YOUR TEST REPORTS OR ANY OTHER HEALTH DETAILS SO I CAN GUIDE YOU MORE PERSONALLY
