-Based on your description: itchy ears, swelling that worsens when scratched, pain, and signs of infection, this could indicate otitis externa (commonly called “swimmer’s ear”) or a bacterial/viral ear infection. In older adults, ear infections can become serious if untreated, especially with swelling, pain, and possible fever.
-Do now:
Do not scratch – it worsens infection.
Keep ear dry.
See a ENT specialist for proper evaluation first
