Doctors' responses
For elderly patients with gastritis, diverticulosis, and duodenal ulcer, Triphala should be used carefully. Regular high-dose Triphala may increase irritation because of its mild laxative and scraping action. Triphala churna 1 to 2 grams at bedtime with lukewarm water or ghee only if constipation is present. Avoid during active ulcer pain, burning, loose motions, or bleeding. For ulcer and gastritis support: Yashtimadhu churna 2 grams twice daily before food with lukewarm milk. Shatavari churna 3 grams twice daily after food. Avipattikar churna 2 grams at night if acidity is present. Digesticare with papaya, turmeric, and ginger: Can be taken the same day, but keep a 2-hour gap from Triphala. Ginger and turmeric may increase gastric irritation in some ulcer patients, so start with small dose after meals. Diet Soft warm food, rice gruel, boiled vegetables, pomegranate. Avoid tea, coffee, spicy food, sour food, alcohol, and fasting.
