I keep hearing about abhyangam treatment from my mother-in-law, who swears by it for every single problem under the sun. But, tbh, I have no idea if it’s actually helpful or if it’s just one of those old-school ayurvedic things that doesn’t do much. I have a crazy stressful job that keeps me stuck at a desk for 10+ hours a day, and my body’s just breaking down. My neck is stiff, shoulders ache 24/7, and my back?? Absolute nightmare. I tried yoga, but I’m so stiff that even touching my toes feels like a full workout. Someone told me abhyangam treatment can help with muscle stiffness, stress, and even digestion (??), but how exactly does it work? Is it just an oil massage, or does it involve herbs, heat, or other stuff? Another thing - is abhyangam treatment a one-time thing or do you need to do it regularly? And do they use a specific type of oil depending on body type, like pitta, vata, etc.? Also, is there any risk? I have sensitive skin and react to some oils. Does abhyangam treatment have any side effects, or is it safe for everyone?
