Doctors’ responses
Hello Mr Naveed,
May I know how your daily diet looks like? Do you practice any kind of physical exercise on a daily basis? Are you taking any medications currently?
Since you had HCV, liver health is important for weight loss. Do you feel fatigue, bloating, or sluggish digestion after meals? Do you crave sweets or fried foods? These can affect metabolism.
Start your day with warm lemon water to cleanse the liver. Avoid fried, processed, and heavy foods… Eat light, fiber-rich meals like millets, barley, green vegetables, and lean protein. Turmeric, cumin, and triphala help digestion and weight loss.
Take Medohar Guggulu (1 tablet twice daily) and Triphala churna (1 tsp at bedtime). Punarnava and Arogyavardhini Vati support liver detox but the dose can only be decided after detailed analysis . Drink hot water throughout the day to melt fat.
Do morning walks, Surya Namaskar, Kapalbhati, and Bhastrika pranayama daily. Reduce sugar and dairy. Consult an Ayurvedic doctor for a detailed plan.
Naveed, good to know you’ve overcome the HCV challenge, that’s huge. Now, about your weight, it’s important to see it through the Ayurvedic lens, which looks at the balance of the doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Given your details, there’s a possibility of Kapha imbalance, as it often leads to issues like weight gain.
Ayurveda emphasizes lifestyle and dietary changes more than medication, really. But there’s still some natural helps you can try. For instance, Triphala is a common herb used that supports digestion and metabolism. You could take it in powder form, about a teaspoon mixed with warm water, before bed. But it’s always good to speak with an Ayurvedic professional near you to tailor it precisely to your needs.
Diet-wise, focus on decreasing Kapha-aggravating foods, like heavy, oily, and overly sweet items. Opt for more spicy, bitter, and astringent tastes. Incorporate light and warm meals, avoid late-night snacking, and drink warm water throughout the day, which helps ignite the digestive fire, or “agni.”
Exercise is a cornerstone, too. Regular physical activity, like brisk walking or yoga can help balance Kapha. Aim for consistency, even if it’s not super intense.
And one more thing—watch the quality of your sleep and stress levels, both are often overlooked. Poor sleep raises stress, and stress makes weight loss harder. Try some Pranayama or meditation to calm the mind.
So, while there’s no magic medicine bottle here, consistent small changes in your daily routine could work wonders. Stay patient and kind to yourself through the process, it’s a journey, and you’re not alone in it.
