Doctors’ responses

Hello Ethan, it would be helpful to know if he has undergone a proper ear examination recently to rule out any lingering infection or issues. Additionally, understanding how often the itching occurs, whether it worsens at any particular time, and if there are any signs of discharge, pain, or foul smell would be useful. It’s also important to check for any allergies or skin conditions like eczema that might be contributing to the irritation. Regarding his concentration concerns, has he undergone any developmental assessments, or has a teacher or doctor expressed any concerns? Details about his sleep quality, diet, and daily activities would further help in providing suitable guidance.

Hi Ethan, Can you tell me if your son experiences any pain or discharge from his ears during the itching? Also, how is his sleep and appetite, and has there been any noticeable change in his overall mood or energy levels? Lastly, does he show any sensitivity to loud noises or certain environments?

So sorry to hear your little one is having these issues. Ear itching can be really annoying for a kid. From an Ayurvedic perspective, itching could be a sign of vata imbalance - dryness tends to do that. Here's a quick thing you might wanna try: warm a teaspoon of sesame oil gently, and put a couple of drops in his ear. Just make sure it's not too hot - we want it warm, not burning! This can help moisturize and sooth the itch. Do it when he can lie still for a bit - an cartoon time maybe? Toooooo, make sure no oil goes in if there’s an infection. Now, about his learning - Ayurveda doesn't have a magic wand but it believes in boosting the sattva - the pure and positive quality of mind. Brahmi and Shankhapushpi are two great herbs which help in enhancing memory and concentration. You could try getting Brahmi syrup or choorna meant for kids. But remember, some patience is important - every child learns at their own pace. Next time, watch if he’s drinking too much cold stuff. Sometimes cold can disturb kapha, and lowers concentration levels. And you might want to cut down on sugar and junky snacks too - they make the little minds all jumpy. Keep a watch on his overall health - sometimes poor focus links to things like sleep or gut health. Might sound far-fetched but a good belly means a good brain! Kids have their unique rhythms and catching it can be half the battle, ya know? But, definitely check in with his doc about ongoing ear complaints to ensure there's no underlying issue that needs treating. Better to be on the safe side! And don't sweat it too much on the learning pace - love, encouragement, and consistent effort work wonders!
