How can I detox parasites and also rebalance my hormones. - #19688

Kammy

I have acne after eating loads of junk food, how can I get my body back to regular. I had clear skin for all life before two years ago. I also had my second baby two and a half years ago, I'm not sure if my acne has anything to do with that.

Doctors' responses

In Ayurveda, acne is often linked to aggravated pitta and kapha doshas, leading to excess heat, oiliness, and toxin buildup in the blood.

Please share more details about your digestion, bowel habits, menstrual cycle regularity, stress levels, and any past skin treatments or medications. Do you experience bloating, acidity, or irregular periods? Have you noticed any specific triggers like dairy, sugar, or hormonal fluctuations?

To detoxify the body, focus on light, cooling foods such as bitter greens, amla, and neem. Drinking warm water with lemon in the morning and taking blood-purifying herbs like maha manjisthadi kwath or sarivadyasava may help. Applying neem and turmeric paste or kumkumadi tailam can improve skin clarity. Avoid spicy, fried, and processed foods, and practice yoga or pranayama for internal balance

Your acne is likely due to: Hormonal Imbalance – Postpartum hormonal shifts can cause skin breakouts. Toxin Build-Up (Ama) – Junk food leads to poor digestion and toxin accumulation in the blood. Liver Overload – When the liver is stressed, it reflects on the skin. Pitta & Kapha Imbalance – Excess heat and oil in the body can lead to acne. Start on 1.Tab. Neem ghan vati - 1 tab twice daily after food with lukewarm water 2. Tab . Kaishora guggulu 1 tab twice daily after food 3. khadira arista 4 tsp with equal quantity of water twice daily after food 4. triphala churna 1/2 tsp with lukewarm water at bed time

Hello Kammy, In Ayurveda, clear skin means the doshas are in balance, but acne shows increased pitta and toxins (ama) in the body. Eating loads of junk food, which is spicy, oily, and processed, can disturb pitta and build up ama, causing inflammation and acne. Having your second baby may have brought hormonal changes that further upset this balance.

To understand better: How is your digestion — do you experience acidity, bloating, or heaviness after meals? Are your bowel movements regular, or do you have constipation or loose stools? To get back to regular, you need to cool and cleanse your body — avoid junk food, include cooling foods like cucumbers and fresh fruits, and drink plenty of water. Herbs like neem and turmeric, along with proper digestion support such as Triphala, can help clear toxins. Reducing stress with yoga and meditation is also important to maintain balance and clear skin.

It sounds like you’re trying to find a balance again, a tough task sometimes. Acne can definitely pop up post-pregnancy due to hormonal shifts — oh the joys of parenthood! And, of course, junk food doesn’t help, messin’ with your hormones and digestion.

First thing, let’s look at your diet. In Ayurveda, acne often links to “Pitta” imbalance, which makes sense with the spicy, oily stuff you might be having. Try cooling foods, like cucumber or leafy greens, they’re great. Coconut water too, super refreshing and cooling. Avoid spicy, fried, and overly salty foods. They just make your Pitta dosha go haywire. Also, drinking warm water with lemon in the morning might help kickstart your digestion again.

Consider herbs like Neem and Turmeric. They’re quite powerful for cleansing the blood and supporting clear skin. You can make a face paste or take them internally, but a bit of caution here, consult a local ayurvedic practitioner to get the right dosages for your body.

And don’t forget about your mental side of things… stress plays a sly role in hormonal imbalance. Attempt some yoga or meditation daily, even short sessions can work wonders! Breathing exercises, called “pranayama,” could bolster your system too, bringing a bit of peace. Try “Sheetali breath,” it’s cooling and calming at the same time.

Remember, regular meals following that circadian rhythm helps create harmony internally, so try to be consistent with meal timing and sleep patterns. It may not happen overnight, but with patience you’re definitely on your way to clear skin once again. And if things don’t improve, do think about seeing a doctor to rule out any underlying issues — no harm in a check-up, right?
