Doctors’ responses

Dr. Swathimutthu Prasad B N
I’m Dr. Swathimutthu B N, and my practice is deeply rooted in the Ayurvedic care of women’s health, with a focus on balancing hormones, enhancing fertility, and supporting every stage of the reproductive journey. My core areas of expertise include managing menstrual irregularities, painful periods, PCOS, endometriosis, PMS, and menopausal challenges through individualized, holistic care. I also provide preconception counseling and comprehensive postpartum support to promote safe and natural recovery. One of my key strengths lies in addressing infertility in both men and women. I integrate Ayurvedic detoxification therapies like Panchakarma, herbal formulations, and lifestyle interventions to naturally enhance fertility, regulate ovulation, and improve sperm health. My goal is to identify and treat the root causes of reproductive imbalances rather than just addressing surface-level symptoms. Each consultation begins with an in-depth assessment of the patient’s Prakriti (constitution) and Vikriti (current imbalances), allowing me to create highly personalized treatment plans. These plans often include Ayurvedic therapies, dietary adjustments, yoga, pranayama, and stress-relief techniques—customized for long-term vitality and well-being. My approach is not just about treatment, but about walking alongside my patients throughout their healing journey. Whether you are preparing for pregnancy, managing chronic hormonal issues, or navigating the emotional shifts of menopause, I provide close follow-up, emotional support, and continuous guidance. I am committed to building a compassionate, evidence-based practice rooted in Ayurvedic science. By combining ancient wisdom with modern insights, I aim to empower each individual to reclaim their health naturally, safely, and sustainably. If you’re seeking a thoughtful, personalized, and holistic approach to women’s health and fertility, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Do get a CBC, Thyroid Profile, and USG done to understand your condition better. Also, share what kind of physical activities , diet you are following to advise in detail. It is advisable to visit a nearby Ayurveda hospital for a complete evaluation. Based on the assessment, you can undergo Panchakarma therapy, followed by post-therapy medications for long-term and effective results.

Not having periods for 7 months is something that definitely needs to be looked at. Based on Ayurveda, this condition could be related to an imbalance in the dosha, particularly Kaphadosha. Excessive weight gain and irregular periods can both be signs of an aggravated Kapha which is known for its heavy, stagnant qualities. Firstly, about diet, while intermittent fasting might be popular, it can be warming for some doshas. Instead, consider a more balanced approach that's right for your dosha. Include light, warm, and easily digestible food. Eating meals regularly without skipping breakfast can stabilize your digestion or agni. Focus on incorporating spices like ginger, turmeric, and black pepper in your meals, these can ignite the digestive fire. Try Triphala—a combination of three fruits: Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki—as it may aid in balancing. Mixing a teaspoon of this powder with warm water at bedtime can be beneficial. Regular physical activity is key. Try incorporating yoga or light exercises, an hour a day if possible. Asanas like Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and Kapalbhati Pranayama might help in cutting through the Kapha and stimulating proper hormonal functioning. Stress also plays a vital role in metabolic health and menstruation. Engage in activities like meditation or spend time in nature, which can help to relieve stress and maintain balance. If the condition continues, alignment with a healthcare provider is necessary, alongside Ayurvedic practices. A healthcare practitioner can conduct tests to eliminate possibilities like PCOS or thyroid issues, which could be underlying factors for weight gain and loss of periods. It’s really important to listen to your body and align both Ayurvedic ways and modern interventions if required to achieve holistic health.
