When dealing with borderline sugar levels, it's crucial to take a careful approach when thinking about what sweeteners to use. Even though jaggery is more natural compared to refined sugar, it can still raise blood sugar levels because it's primarily made up of sucrose. If you're aiming to manage your sugar levels closely, it might be better to limit or avoid jaggery alongside regular sugar. As for the itching, different foods can trigger such reactions, and this could be due to specific sensitivities or allergies. The ripe banana, dates, peanuts, and fried items you've mentioned could potentially cause itching if you're sensitive to them or if there's an imbalance in your Pitta dosha. In Ayurveda, excess Pitta can lead to skin issues like itching. To get a better understanding of this, it might be helpful to consult with a certified Ayurvedic practitioner who can analyze your unique constitution and offer personalized advice. For addressing Pitta-related imbalances, emphasize Pitta-pacifying foods like cool, astringent, and bitter foods. Minimizing spicy, fried, and sour foods can alleviate some skin-related symptoms. Prioritize cooling fruits and vegetables, and incorporate herbs like coriander and fennel. Hydration, with room temperature or cool water, can also be beneficial without inducing significant fluctuations in sugar levels. Also, maintain a daily routine to promote balanced Agni (digestive fire), including regular meal times and limiting stress-inducing activities that can elevate Pitta further. The role of lifestyle modifications cannot be understated; including yoga and deep breathing exercises can be holistic additions to your regimen. Of course, consider seeking confirmatory tests from a healthcare provider to ascertain any potential allergies or causes to ensure you're managing your health optimally across different levels. If itching persists or worsens, visiting a healthcare professional should be your immediate next step to rule out other causes.
