Detoxification in Ayurveda, known as Panchakarma, involves five primary therapeutic treatments aimed at eliminating toxins and restoring balance. It helps in managing autoimmune disorders like ankylosing spondylitis by alleviating inflammation and improving joint health. While full Panchakarma should be done under professional supervision, some aspects can be implemented at home to complement the treatment, helping with inflammation in the lower back and hips. For a home-based detox, consider starting with dietary modifications to pacify the aggravated Vata and Pitta doshas. Start your day with a glass of warm water mixed with the juice of half a lemon. In your diet, include anti-inflammatory herbs and spices like turmeric and ginger which can be added to your meals or consumed as herbal teas. Consume a well-cooked simple diet primarily of rice, split mung beans (khichadi), cooked vegetables, and avoid nightshades, which can exacerbate inflammation. Oil massage (Abhyanga) is beneficial for lubrication and reducing pain. Using warm sesame or castor oil, gently massage the affected areas daily. Post-massage, a warm bath can further soothe the muscles. Practices like Yoga and Pranayama improve flexibility and reduce stress. Regular stretching under professional guidance can be very supportive for maintaining joint mobility and reducing stiffness in the spine. Coming to your ESR value of 20, it is within normal limits for many, but in context of inflammation, it might indicate mild activity. To target inflammation directly, regular consumption of Triphala churna—an Ayurveda formula known for its cleansing and rejuvenative properties—is recommended. Mix a teaspoon with warm water and consume at bedtime. Keep in mind that consistency is vital, and these lifestyle and dietary practices should be maintained over a period to show effective results. If symptoms persist or worsen, it's important to seek professional medical advice promptly. Always ensure any herbal or therapeutic interventions are appropriate for your unique constitution and condition.

Your ESR level is mildly high, do not worry… But for complete detoxification process it’s better to try at nearby panchakarma centres
