Acne and related skin concerns are quite frustrating, especially when they persist despite good habits. In Ayurveda, such issues are often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, particularly an aggravation of the Pitta dosha, which governs heat and transformation in the body. Acne might signify excess heat or toxins (Ama) that need cleansing.

Since the Khadirarishta and Manjishtharishta caused constipation, it indicates a vitiation of your Vata dosha, as well, possibly an indication of the underlying digestive fire or Agni issues. Ayurveda often emphasizes a personalized approach, considering your unique prakriti (constitution).

To address cystic acne and related issues, consider incorporating the following Ayurvedic recommendations into your routine:

1. Herbal Support: Neem capsules can be beneficial; take one capsule twice daily after meals with warm water to purify blood and reduce inflammation.

2. Dietary Adjustments: Follow a diet that pacifies Pitta. This means avoiding spicy, oily, and salty foods which can aggravate Pitta. Instead, opt for cooling foods such as cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens. Stay hydrated with enough water and consider a small amount of aloe vera juice for its cooling properties.

3. External Applications: Prepare a paste using sandalwood powder mixed with rose water and apply to affected areas. This can help reduce swelling and provide a cooling effect. Rinse after 15-20 minutes with lukewarm water. Do this a few times a week.

4. Lifestyle Modifications: Incorporate daily relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga to reduce stress, which can be a significant factor in acne flare-ups. Make sure you’re getting sunlight exposure for a short duration which aids in skin health.

5. Hydration and Digestion: Drink warm, herbal teas like fennel or coriander tea, which can aid digestion and help balance the Pitta dosha, reducing acne internally.

If your condition persists or worsens, it’s crucial to consult with an Ayurvedic doctor for a more tailored plan that considers every aspect of your lifestyle and health.

HELLO TRISHA SONI,

In Ayurveda, your condition is understood as Yuvan podia, a from acne commonly seen in young adults. It arises due to a disturbance in the balance of Pitta and kapha doshas, along with impurities in the rakta dhatu(blood) and accumulation of Ama(toxins) caused by impaired digestion or sluggish metabolism. A t this age, pitta dosha is naturally dominant, and when further aggravated by internal and external heat- such as spicy food, stress, hormonal changes or liver dysfunction- it can lead to inflammation, redness, and pus-filled lesions seen in CYSTIC ACNE. kapha dosha, on the other hand contributes to excessive oil production and blockages in the skins channels , resulting in the formation of blackheads and whiteheads. The cheeks are often affected in this pattern, as they are areas where oil glands are active and where both pitta and kapha tend to accumulate. Additionally, the presence of constipation indicates weakened digestive fire which leads to toxin buildup and further impairs blood quality, fuelling chronic breakouts. Thus, your acne is not just a superficial skin issue but a manifestation of internall imbalance, especially involving the digestive system, blood, and Doshi harmony. Addressing these root causes holistically is essential for long term healing.

TREATMENT GOAL -balance pitta and kapha -removes toxin -purify rakta dhatu -reduce inflammation and oiliness -prevent scarring -regulate hormones naturally

INTERNALLY START WITH

1)GANDHAK RASAYANA(baidyanath/dootpapeshwar)= 1 tab twice daily after meals for 2-3 months =antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, clears pus

2)MAHAMANJISTHADI KASHAYA- 15ml + 45 ml water, twice daily after food for 3 months =blood purification, reduces pigmentation

3)AVIPATIKKAR CHURNA- 1/2 tsp with warm water at bedtime =mild laxative, clears pitta and ama

4)AROGYAVARDHINI VATI(dootpapeshwar)- 1 tab twice daily after meals for 1 month =liver detox, improves metabolism

TOPICAL APPLICATIONS

1)HIMALAYA NEEM FACE WASH- twice daily= reduces oil, prevents clogging

2)KUMKUMADI TAILA(arya Vaidya sala/kama ayurveda)- apply 2-3 drops at night on clean face =skin rejuvenation, scar healing

3)NEEM-TURMERIC FACE PACK- neem+turmeric+rose water - thrice weekly =reduces bacterial growth and whiteheads

4)STEAM WITH TRIPHALA DECOCTION= 1 time/week for 10 min =opens pores clears blackheads

DIET -COOLING FRUITS= amla, pomegranate, guava, apple -VEGETABLES= lauki, tinda, karela, spinach, methi -SPICES= fennel, coriander, turmeric -FATS= ghee 1 tsp/day- balances Pitta -FLUIDS= warm water, herbal tea-coriander-mint-fennel -GRAINS= rice, barley, moong dal, oats

AVOID -spicy , oily fried food= increases pitta and kapha -curd at night= blocks channels, increases kapha -cold water/drinks= reduces agni, create ama -milk+salty/sour items= incompatible food -excess sugar= feeds inflammation and oiliness

LIFESTYLE GUIDELINES -sleep early by 10pm= prevents hormonal disruption -do not puck/poke acne= prevents scarring and infection -avoid heavy cosmetics= reduces pore blockages -clean pillow case every 2-3 days= control bacterial growth

YOGA AND PRANAYAM -ANULOM- VILOM pranayam- 5-10 min= balances pitta and reduces stress -sheetali/sheetakari- 5 min= cools internal heat -sarvangasana- 2-3 mins(if no neck issue)= improves facial blood flow -Bhujangasana- 2-3 min= opens chest, supports hormones -meditatation(trataka)- 5-10 mins= reduces stress-related breakouts

-track progress weekly- especially reduction in new breakouts, oiliness and scarring

DO FOLLOW CONSISTENTLY

HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL

THANK YOU

DR. MAITRI ACHARYA
