smell for 4-5 years even after cleaning - #23960

Pathan furkhan

I have been suffering from underarm smell for the last 4–5 years. Even after cleaning daily with soap and maintaining proper hygiene, the smell returns after a few hours. I have tried using Dettol, lemon, and even shaving, but nothing has helped. There is no itching or rashes, just the smell. I feel very uncomfortable in public and have lost confidence due to this. Please guide me for a permanent solution.

Addressing persistent underarm odor that resists common hygiene practices involves exploring the underlying causes and addressing them holistically. In Ayurveda, the issue might relate to an imbalance in Pitta dosha or perhaps toxins (ama) accumulation. Let's break it down to find a solution that's right for you. First, consider your diet, which can significantly influence body odor. Foods causing sharp smells like onion, garlic, and fried or spicy items could aggravate underarm odor. Opt for cooling foods: try incorporating more fresh fruits like watermelon, cucumber, and leafy greens. Try reducing caffeine and alcohol, and ensure you're hydrated as this helps in detoxification. Exploring external natural applications could be quite beneficial. Try mixing a paste using alum powder and rose water, applying it to clean underarms for around 15 minutes before you rinse. Alum is known for its antibacterial properties, and rose water has a cooling effect which might help. This might break the bacterial cycle that's often a culprit in odor. Consider evaluating your digestion and overall digestive fire (agni), as weak digestion may cause toxin buildup, leading to unpleasant body odors. To balance Agni, an infusion of ginger, coriander, and fennel after meals could provide digestive benefits. Routine is essential. Ensure that you maintain regular meal times, and consider a lighted fasting day once a week — a day centered around fruits and light broths — to allow your body to detoxify naturally. Pay attention to clothing, wear breathable fabrics like cotton that allow sweat to evaporate, lessening bacterial growth. Incorporate stress-reducing practices such as yoga or meditation as stress can exacerbate certain body odors. If after these steps you still experience issues, it would be advisable to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner directly for a personalized assessment. There's also scope for a deeper body detoxification treatment, like Panchakarma, which should be done under expert supervision. Addressing persistent underarm odor is possible, though it requires consistency and patience. Best of luck in regaining your confidence and comfort!
