how to use ashwagandha powder with milk - #24582

Sofia

I am really struggling with my stress levels lately, and someone suggested I try ashwagandha powder. I did some reading and even bought a bag of it! It's all a bit overwhelming though. Like, I’m not sure how to use ashwagandha powder with milk? I keep seeing that it’s great for calming the mind and boosting energy, but it’s confusing to figure it all out. I tried mixing it in my smoothie but honestly, I don't love the taste. 😬 Then I heard that using ashwagandha powder with milk can enhance its benefits — something about the warmth of the milk helping absorb it better? Can I just add a spoon to my warm milk before bed or do I need to do something special? Also, would it mess with my digestive system? I had a bad experience with another herbal remedy that just… didn’t sit right with me. 😩 Any tips on how to make this work would be awesome!

Mixing ashwagandha powder with milk can indeed be an effective way to harness its benefits, as the warmth of the milk may help in enhancing the absorption of the herb. Ashwagandha, revered for its adaptogenic qualities, is known to support stress reduction, improve energy levels, and balance Vata and Kapha doshas according to Ayurveda. Using it with milk is not only traditional, but the fat content in milk also acts as an anupana, a vehicle that helps in the assimilation of ashwagandha in the body. Here's a simple method for using ashwagandha powder with milk: 1. Heat about a cup of milk on a stove until it's warm, not boiling. 2. Add about half to one teaspoon of ashwagandha powder into the warm milk. 3. Stir well until the powder is properly dissolved. 4. If you find the taste a bit strong, you can add a pinch of cardamom or a dash of honey to sweeten it. For better digestion and to prevent any digestive disturbance, like the ones you've had previously, aim to consume it either in the evening or before bed. Taking it on a relatively empty stomach ensures better absorption. You may even mix a bit of ginger powder or turmeric to balance out the digestive effects as these are known to enhance agni (digestive fire). If you have concerns about digestive discomfort, it might be sensible to start with a smaller dose, perhaps even a quarter teaspoon, and observe how your body responds. Gradually increase the amount if your digestion is cooperating well. Monitor how you feel over a span of few days. However, if you have ongoing concerns with your digestive system or are currently taking other medication, it's important to consult with an Ayurvedic physician or healthcare provider to customize the dosage. This ensures safety and efficacy according to your unique prakriti (constitution) and current health state. Don't forget to listen to your body – if any uncomfort arises, adjust the preparation or usage accordingly.
