How do I cure Pericarditis which I have for almost 6 months - #33611

Sharné

What can I do to reduce inflammation caused by pericarditis. My pericarditis is not resolving on its own with medication. I think I have had the pericarditis for many years without knowing it was pericarditis. I would like to treat it naturally along side my medication if possible.

Addressing pericarditis through Ayurveda involves managing inflammation, supporting your cardiovascular system, and balancing your doshas. Pericarditis may reflect a vitiation of Pitta dosha, which is linked with heat and inflammation. While continuing your medication, you might explore these supportive Ayurvedic approaches.

Consider integrating turmeric (Curcuma longa) into your routine. Known for anti-inflammatory properties, a pinch of turmeric in warm milk daily can help curb inflammation. Alternatively, warm turmeric water in the morning could be soothing. Ginger (Zingiber officinale), also anti-inflammatory, can be consumed as ginger tea. It’s generally safe, but confirm with your healthcare provider that it won’t interact with your medications.

Imbalances in Agni (digestive fire) could exacerbate conditions like pericarditis. Keep meals light yet nutritious. Include cooling foods like cucumber, coriander, and cilantro. Avoid excessively spicy, fried, or acidic foods. Ghee, a clarified butter, in moderation, can be soothing due to its anti-inflammatory and Pitta-pacifying effects.

Stress aggravates conditions, so incorporating daily practices of Pranayama, especially Sheetali and Sheetkari breathwork, can promote relaxation and cooling. Gentle Yoga postures focusing on heart opening and breathing, like Bhujangasana (Cobra pose) or Matsyasana (Fish pose), can also be supportive.

Triphala, a classic Ayurvedic formulation, will aid in overall detoxification if digestively suitable. Consider this under guidance, as its cleansing nature can help balance doshas.

Ensure regular, moderate exercise and good sleep hygiene. Restoring a natural rhythm helps reduce inflammation and stabilizes doshas. Monitor body’s response and regular follow-ups with your healthcare provider is crucial, ensure any natural treatments complement your ongoing medical regimen. If symptoms flair, let your physician know urgently.
