Sitopaladi churna with honey can indeed be useful for easing a baby’s cough and cold symptoms, but at 16 months, it’s critical to use remedies very cautiously. You may give a very small dose, around a pinch of Sitopaladi churna mixed with honey, once a day. Watch carefully for any reactions because infants can be sensitve. Honey should be avoided if the child is under one year old, but at 16 months, it should be safe in moderation when it’s mixed with Ayurvedic herbs.
Apart from this, ensure the baby’s room is humidified, especially during sleep, as dry air can worsen cough. You can use a steam vaporizer. It’s also important to ensure he stays well-hydrated; offer lukewarm water or soup to help soothe the throat and thin the mucus.
You can also do gentle chest rubs using warm mustard oil mixed with a pinch of rock salt or a tiny bit of ajwain (carom seeds), heat it just lightly, let it cool and apply gently on the chest and back, it’s soothing and aids in decongestion. Avoid letting the baby get chilled afterwards by keeping him well covered.
A couple of finely chopped tulsi leaves mixed in warm water can be given; start with just once a day to see how he tolerates it, as tulsi boosts the immunity and helps fight respiratory infections.
Make sure his bedding and environment is free from allergens and irritants. Nasal saline drops can also help reduce nasal block and runny nose.
Considering he has been suffering for around 2 months, it’s a longer duration for such symptoms. It is very crucial to also consult a pediatrician in the UK to rule out any other underlying conditions or infections, which may need specific treatment beyond Ayurvedic support for complete relief. Always balance between consulting modern medicine experts while integrating ayurvedic approaches for effective care.
