Doctors' responses

Living with GERD for 3 years with extreme burning in the chest and throat should definitely not be ignored. If symptoms are continuing despite diet modification and your endoscopy has already shown GERD with a lax LES (lower esophageal sphincter), it suggests that the condition needs a more structured and personalized treatment approach. Sometimes people feel they are already taking care of their diet, but either the treatment was not fully suitable for their body type, or the condition is being managed only symptomatically. Long-standing GERD can gradually affect digestion, sleep, overall energy levels, and even mental wellbeing, so it is important to address it properly rather than continuing to tolerate the symptoms. In Ayurveda, such chronic acidity conditions are usually related to Pitta aggravation along with impaired digestion (Agni imbalance). Management is not limited to avoiding spicy or oily food. It generally includes a combination of digestive correction, gut healing, and lifestyle regulation. Ayurveda offers several supportive approaches such as: Customized herbal medicines to reduce acid irritation and support digestion Panchakarma therapies that help detoxify and regulate aggravated doshas Dietary and lifestyle adjustments based on your individual constitution and digestion pattern Measures to improve gut motility and reduce bloating Because these treatments are highly individualized, it is difficult to suggest exact medicines without knowing your complete history, appetite pattern, bowel habits, sleep, stress levels, and body constitution. Since you have been suffering for 3 years without proper relief, I strongly suggest consulting an experienced Ayurvedic doctor who can evaluate your condition in detail and design a personalized treatment plan. With the right combination of Ayurvedic medicines, Panchakarma (if required), and lifestyle corrections, many chronic GERD cases can be managed effectively. Please take this condition seriously and seek proper treatment. Take care, and wishing you good health.

Namaste, Chronic GERD with severe burning and bloating usually occurs when digestion is weak and stomach acid repeatedly moves upward into the food pipe. Simple measures that may help: Eat small, frequent meals instead of large meals. Avoid lying down for 2–3 hours after eating. Reduce tea, coffee, very sour foods, chocolate, and late-night meals. Include light, easily digestible foods like rice, moong dal, boiled vegetables, and buttermilk with roasted cumin. Manage stress with gentle breathing exercises or walking, as stress can worsen acidity. Ayurvedic medicines that may support relief: Avipattikar Churna – traditionally used to support acid balance and reduce burning sensation. Kamdudha Ras (Mukta Yukta) – sometimes used to help soothe acidity and gastric irritation. Since you mentioned extreme burning and confirmed GERD on endoscopy, continue follow-up with your doctor and take any Ayurvedic medicines only under medical guidance to ensure safe and proper use.
