Doctors' responses
Namaste, Your condition — disc bulge at L5-S1 with nerve compression and canal stenosis — indicates pressure on the nerve with vata imbalance affecting the lower back and legs. The focus should be on reducing nerve irritation, improving spinal support, and managing pain safely without strain. Avoid forward bending, heavy lifting, prolonged sitting, and sudden movements. Use a firm mattress and maintain proper posture while sitting and sleeping. Physiotherapy is very helpful in this condition — continue guided exercises regularly, as they support spine stability and reduce nerve pressure. Gentle walking is beneficial, but avoid overexertion. Ayurvedic medicines with dose and timing: Yogaraja Guggulu – 1 tablet, twice daily after food Mahayogaraja Guggulu – 1 tablet, twice daily after food Dashmoolarishta – 15 ml with equal water, twice daily after food External application: Apply Mahanarayana Taila or Dhanwantharam Taila over the lower back, followed by gentle massage and mild heat (fomentation) These are traditionally used to reduce pain, improve mobility, and support nerve function when combined with proper care and physiotherapy. In many cases, with consistent treatment, precautions, and physiotherapy, people are able to manage symptoms and live a functional life without surgery. Improvement is gradual and may take a few weeks to months. Consultation can help tailor this further to your needs.
