बैठकर उठने में घुटने का दर्द, भारीपन और पीछे सूजन होना आयुर्वेद अनुसार वात बढ़ने, जोड़ों में सूजन व कमजोरी का संकेत हो सकता है। सही दवा और दिनचर्या से काफी राहत मिल सकती है। आयुर्वेदिक मेडिसिन योगराज गुग्गुल – 2 गोली सुबह-शाम भोजन बाद गुनगुने पानी से। महायोगराज गुग्गुल – दर्द और stiffness अधिक हो तो 1–2 गोली दिन में 2 बार। दशमूल क्वाथ – 15–20 ml बराबर गुनगुने पानी में मिलाकर सुबह-शाम भोजन से पहले। अश्वगंधा चूर्ण – 1 चम्मच रात में गुनगुने दूध से, जिससे कमजोरी व जोड़ों की ताकत में लाभ मिलता है। बाहरी उपचार महानारायण तेल या सहचरादि तेल से रोज़ 10 मिनट हल्की मालिश करें। इसके बाद हल्की गर्म सिकाई करें। खान-पान मेथी, लहसुन, हल्दी, तिल, मूंग दाल लें। दही, ठंडी चीज़ें, ज्यादा तला-भुना और लंबे समय तक बैठना कम करें।

एक आयुर्वेदिक चिकित्सक (Ayurveda Doctor) के नाते, इस स्थिति को ठीक करने के लिए मैं आपको निम्नलिखित संपूर्ण चिकित्सा सूत्र (Treatment Protocol) का पालन करने की सलाह दूंगा: ​1. आंतरिक औषधियां (Internal Medications) ​शरीर के भीतर से सूजन और दर्द को कम करने के लिए ये क्लासिकल आयुर्वेदिक योग बेहद असरदार हैं: ••​सिंहनाद गुग्गुल (Simhanada Guggulu): 2-2 गोली सुबह और शाम को भोजन के बाद गुनगुने पानी या रास्नादि काढ़ा के साथ लें। यह घुटने के पीछे की सूजन (swelling) और जकड़न को दूर करने के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ है। ••​महारास्नादि काढ़ा (Maharasnadi Kwath): 15 से 20 ml काढ़ा बराबर मात्रा में गुनगुना पानी मिलाकर सुबह-शाम खाली पेट या भोजन के बाद लें। यह वात का शमन करता है और गति (movement) को आसान बनाता है। ••​पुनर्नवादि मंडूर / पुनर्नवासव: चूंकि घुटने के पीछे सूजन (Fluid retention) है, इसलिए पुनर्नवा का उपयोग वहां के एक्स्ट्रा फ्लूइड को सुखाने और भारीपन को कम करने में मदद करेगा। (15 ml पुनर्नवासव भोजन के बाद लें)। ​2. बाह्य उपचार एवं पंचकर्म (External Therapies) ​ध्यान रहे: यदि घुटने के पीछे सूजन बहुत ज्यादा है और छूने पर गर्म महसूस होता है, तो शुरुआत में वहां तेज मालिश बिल्कुल न करें। पहले सूजन को कम करना है। •​उपनाह (Poultice): दशांग लेप (Dashanga Lepa) को गुनगुने पानी या अरंडी के तेल (Castor oil) में मिलाकर घुटने के पीछे और चारों तरफ लगाएं। सूखने पर इसे धो लें। यह सूजन को तेजी से खींचता है। ••​पत्र पिण्ड स्वेद (Patra Pinda Sweda): जब तीव्र सूजन थोड़ी कम हो जाए, तब निर्गुंडी, अर्क (मदार) और एरंड के पत्तों को तिल के तेल में पकाकर पोटली बनाएं और उससे घुटने की सिकाई करें। क्या खाएं (Do’s) * गुनगुना पानी पिएं * भोजन में लहसुन, अदरक, मेथी और हींग का प्रयोग बढ़ाएं। * रात को सोते समय दूध में आधा चम्मच हल्दी और एक चम्मच गाय का घी मिलाकर लें। क्या न खाएं (Don’ts) * ठंडी और बासी चीजें (फ्रिज का पानी, आइसक्रीम)। * वात बढ़ाने वाले आहार जैसे- उड़द की दाल, छोले, राजमा, भिंडी और अरबी। * दही, छाछ और खट्टी चीजों का सेवन रात के समय बिल्कुल न करें। उकड़ू (Squatting) न बैठें: जब तक दर्द और सूजन पूरी तरह ठीक न हो जाए, जमीन पर उकड़ू बैठने या पालथी मारकर बैठने से बचें। वेस्टर्न टॉयलेट (Western commode) का ही उपयोग करें। ​वजन पर नियंत्रण: यदि वजन अधिक है, तो घुटनों पर दबाव कम करने के लिए वजन नियंत्रित करना आवश्यक है। ​विश्राम: पैर को बहुत ज्यादा लटका कर न बैठें। बैठते समय पैर के नीचे स्टूल रखें ताकि घुटने के पीछे फ्लूइड जमा न हो।
