Is Rumaforte a better option than Diflunac for my husband's Parkinson's and joint pain? - #56426
My husband has parkinsons but is not taking any meds for it other than an NAD treatment. He also has joint pain and has been taking difluenac. I've heard a better solution is rumaforte. Do you agree?
Doctors' responses
••From an Ayurvedic perspective, managing your husband’s health requires looking at the entire picture, rather than just replacing one painkiller with another. ••To give you the most accurate professional guidance, we need to address his Parkinson’s disease, his joint pain, and the specific medications you mentioned. 1. Parkinson’s Disease and Medications In Ayurveda, Parkinson’s disease is classified as Kampa Vata (a severe imbalance of the Vata dosha, which governs the nervous system, movement, and joints). The Risk of No Medications: Managing Parkinson’s solely with NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) therapy is highly risky. While NAD supports cellular energy, it cannot replace standard neurological treatments (like Levodopa/Carbidopa) that replenish dopamine in the brain. Over time, a lack of proper medication will lead to a more rapid progression of tremors, rigidity, and mobility issues. ••The Ayurvedic View: We strongly emphasize integrating modern neurology with Ayurvedic nerve-rejuvenating (Rasayana) therapies. Ayurveda should complement his mainstream treatment, not replace it. 2. Diclofenac vs. Rumaforte for Joint Pain Your husband is currently taking Diclofenac, a conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). You mentioned Rumaforte (often formulated under various Ayurvedic brands as a combination of herbs like Guggulu, Rasna, Shallaki, and Nirgundi) as an alternative •Do I agree that Rumaforte is a better solution? ••Yes, but with crucial conditions. •Switching from Diclofenac to an Ayurvedic formulation like Rumaforte is a much safer, more sustainable strategy for chronic joint pain because it avoids the harsh systemic side effects of chronic NSAID use. Furthermore, the ingredients in Rumaforte naturally pacify Vata, which helps both the joints and the nervous system. ••However, you cannot simply stop Diclofenac abruptly, or his joint pain may spike severely. He needs a structured, medically supervised taper-off protocol where the Ayurvedic treatments are gradually introduced as the chemical NSAID is safely reduced.
