Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Chronic diarrhea and borderline Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) suggest an imbalance in your digestive system. In Ayurveda, this can be seen as a disruption in the Agni (digestive fire), leading to weak digestion and the formation of Ama (toxins). The chronic diarrhea indicates a possible Vata imbalance, which is characterized by irregularity and dryness, although the watery nature of diarrhea also suggests Pitta involvement due to excess heat and inflammation.
The prescription of Zenpep, an enzyme replacement, aligns with the Ayurvedic approach of supporting Agni. However, Ayurveda would also focus on dietary adjustments and lifestyle changes to restore balance.
This pattern of symptoms suggests a systemic imbalance, not isolated issues. The chronic nature indicates that both diet and stress may play significant roles. Weak Agni can lead to improper digestion, allowing Ama to accumulate, which can further disrupt the digestive process and affect overall energy levels.

Borderline EPI means your digestion enzymes are slightly low, so food is not getting digested properly. Chronic diarrhea happens due to weak digestion (agni). Do this: Eat small, frequent meals Eat warm, freshly cooked food only Avoid raw, cold, and heavy foods Prefer: Rice, moong dal, khichdi, boiled vegetables Buttermilk with roasted jeera after lunch Avoid: Oily, fried food, junk food Cold drinks, excess fiber, salads Drink warm water throughout the day Lifestyle: Eat at fixed times Do not overeat Manage stress Medicines: Continue Zenpep as prescribed with meals Kutaj ghan vati 2 tablets twice daily after food Bilwadi churna 3 grams twice daily with warm water Hingwashtak churna 1/2 tsp with first bite of food This will improve digestion, reduce diarrhea, and support enzyme function. Recovery is gradual, usually takes few weeks with regular routine. For proper dose adjustment and personalised plan, you can consult me.
