Your symptoms sound like sciatica, where the sciatic nerve is irritated, likely from the lower back. Pain lasting 6 months means it needs more than just painkillers and stretching. The goal now is to reduce nerve pressure, not just pain. You should keep moving with daily walking, avoid long sitting and heavy bending, and start gentle strengthening exercises for your core and glutes. Overstretching can actually make it worse. Because it’s long-standing with numbness– — do a MRI of lumbar spine —Rx- 1) Aimil Nervup Syrup – 15 ml BD after food 2) Dashmool Kwath – 15–20 ml BD with warm water after food 3)Yograj Guggulu – 2 tabs BD after food 4) Muscalt Forte – 1 tab BD after food 5) Mahanarayana Taila – local massage over lumbosacral region daily, followed by mild fomentation —Advice: Daily walking, avoid prolonged sitting, bending/lifting. Consider Kati Basti / Basti therapy followed by Snehan swedan near by panchkarma centre – follow up after 15 days
Sciatica of this duration usually indicates nerve irritation along with muscle tightness and weakness in the lower back region. Pain with numbness suggests that the nerve is still under pressure, so only stretches may not be sufficient. Focus on reducing nerve irritation and strengthening the lower back gradually. Avoid forward bending, heavy lifting, and long sitting. Take short breaks if you sit for long hours. Gentle walking is better than complete rest. Keep the lower back warm and avoid exposure to cold. Sleep on a firm surface and maintain proper posture while sitting. At home, daily oil application on lower back and buttock region with warm sesame oil followed by mild hot fomentation can help relax muscles and reduce nerve compression. You can also try lying on your back and gently bending knees (without strain) to relax the lower spine, but avoid aggressive stretching during pain phase. • Yograj Guggulu – 1 tablet twice daily after food • Maharasnadi kwath – 15 ml with equal warm water twice daily after food • Dashmool kwath – 15 ml with equal water twice daily This will help reduce inflammation, relax the nerve pathway, and improve mobility gradually. If pain is severe and persistent with tingling, a proper evaluation (like scan) is important to rule out disc involvement and guide treatment more precisely. Regards, Dr Raghuveer (Ayurvedacharya)
