Hello I‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ can understand your concern very well. A ringworm (fungal infection) that is continuously coming back even after taking tablets and using creams is quite irritating - but, don’t worry, we are here for you 😊

According to Ayurveda, this is a case of Dadru, which requires both, internal and external treatment to be completely healed.

YOUR CONCERN

You are experiencing: –Fungal patch (ringworm) for 1–6 months –Recurrence even after dermatologist medicines –No specific triggers –Skin of the rest of the body is normal

This shows that the person has an imbalance of Kapha–Pitta and low skin immunity (Tvak Ojas). Therefore, the fungus keeps coming back again and again.

INTERNAL MEDICATION (Very important for long-term cure)

1.Gandhak Rasayan – 2 tabs twice daily after food Purifies skin, removes fungal roots from deep and prevents the recurrence.

2. Arogyavardhini Vati – 1-0-1 after food Reduces Pitta–Kapha toxins & improves skin metabolism.

3 Neem Capsule – 1-0-1 Powerful antifungal + blood purifier.

4. Triphala Churna – ½ tsp at bedtime Purifies the gut and prevents fungi from inside.

Keep taking medicines for 4 weeks for complete recovery.

EXTERNAL TREATMENT (Most of the people are wrong here—proper method is necessary)

Apply below Oil on Affected Area Nimbadi Taila Apply twice daily

Anti-fungal powder after oil Trichoderma herbal dusting powder Keeping area dry and preventing spreading are the main functions of the powder

Bathing Method Using neem leaves or powder in bathing water. Neem helps to kill spores on the body.

HOME REMEDIES THAT WORK

–Apply Aloe vera gel + Turmeric pack at night –Keep area dry –Iron clothes in hot heat before wearing (fungus hides in cloth fibers) –Wash towels daily –Do not share bedsheets, towels, or clothes

DIET PLAN (Very Important)

Include

Bitter foods (karela, neem, methi) Warm water Turmeric milk Fresh fruits Loads of vegetables

❌Strictly avoid for 1 month

Curd Oily & fried foods Sugar & sweets Non-veg Coffee excess Wearing tight clothes

These foods help the fungi to grow.

EXPECTED RESULTS

Itching reduces in 7–10 days Lesions start drying in 2–3 weeks Full recovery in 4–6 weeks Recurrence stops when internal medicines are taken for at least 6–8 weeks

INVESTIGATIONS (If frequently recurring)

Blood sugar (fasting + PP) Vitamin D Liver profile (if long-term ointments used) High sugar is often the cause of a stubborn fungus.

Warm Regards, Dr Snehal ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌Vidhate

WHEN RINGWORM KEEPS TECURRING EVEN AFTER TABLETS AND CREAMS , IT USUALLY MEANS THE SKIN ENVIRONMENT HAS BECOME FAVOURABLE FOR FUNGUS , SO TREATMENT WORKS ONLY TRMPORARILY . TO BREAK THIS CYCLE KEEP THE AFFECTED AREAS COMPLETELY DRY AFTER BATHING, AVOID HEAVY CREAMS AND USE A THIN LAYER OF COCONUT OIL ONCE A DAY OR NEEM OIL Internally start taking GANDHAKA RASAYAN ONE TABLET TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD WITH WARM WATER TURMERIC CAPSULE ONE CAPSULE TWICE DAILY AFTER FOOD FOR 4 TO 6 WEEKS KHADIRA ARISTHA 40 TEASPOON WITH EQUAL AMOUNT OF WATER TWICE DAILY AFTER MEALS WHERE ONLY FULLY DRIED CLOTHES WASH UNDERGARMENTS SEPARATELY IN HOT WATER UNCHAINED BEDSHEETS OFTEN FOR A FEW WEEKS WITH CONSISTENT DRYNESS AND INTERNAL SUPPORT, MOST PEOPLE NOTICE CLEAR IMPROVEMENT AND REDUCED RECURRENCE WITHIN 10 TO 14 DAYS

Medicines 1 Gandhak Rasayan: 2 tablets twice daily after food. 2 Maha Manjisthadi Kashayam: 15ml mixed with 15ml warm water, twice daily before food. 3 Kaishore Guggulu: 2 tablets twice daily with warm water. 4 Arogyavardhini Vati: 1 tablet twice daily before food.

External Therapy Local Application: Apply Marichyadi Tailam or Tuvaraka Tailam on the affected areas twice daily. Lepa (Paste): If the patch is very stubborn, crush a Dadrughan Vati tablet in Lemon Juice and apply the paste on the ringworm patch. Wash off after 30 minutes. (Mild burning is normal). Wash: Wash the area with a decoction of Neem leaves instead of soap.

Dietary Advice Strictly Avoid Sugar: Fungus feeds on sugar. Avoid sweets, chocolates, and refined sugar completely for 45 days.
Exclusions: Stop eating Curd (Yogurt), Pickles, Fermented foods (Idli, Dosa, Bread), and Sea Fish. Inclusions: Eat Turmeric, Neem leaves (on an empty stomach), and Bitter Gourd.

Lifestyle Advice Fungal spores survive in clothing seams. You must boil your towels and undergarments in hot water daily. Keep the groin/affected area completely dry. Sweat triggers the growth immediately.

To address the recurring ringworm, it’s important to balance your body’s internal environment, as Ayurveda sees skin issues as related to imbalances in the pitta and kapha doshas. A long-term approach integrating traditional Ayurvedic practices can be beneficial.

First, focus on your diet. Consider adopting a pitta-pacifying diet: reduce spicy, sour, and salty foods. Favor cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, and leafy greens and eat smaller, more frequent meals to maintain a steady agni, or digestive fire. Reduce sugar and processed foods as they can exacerbate fungal growth. Drink warm, boiled water throughout the day to help flush toxins.

Applying neem oil topically may help due to its antifungal properties. Apply it directly on the affected areas 2-3 times a day, and leave it on rather then washing it off immediately. Another option is using turmeric paste – mix turmeric powder with a little water or coconut oil and apply to the skin, letting it sit for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Boosting immunity is crucial; consider herbs such as Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) and Amla (Emblica officinalis) to support your body’s natural defenses. These can be taken as tablet or powders, once a day with warm water, but consultation with a practitioner is recommended to determine suitable doses.

Include stress-relieving practices like Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation to help modulate your stress levels, which can affect dosha balance. Aim for at least 20 minutes a day.

Hygiene is vital, too. Ensure that any clothing or towels are washed and thoroughly dried before reuse. Avoid wearing damp or overly tight clothing as these can create environments conducive to fungal growth.

Monitor your symptoms, and follow these Ayurvedic practices consistently. If there’s no improvement or if your condition worsens, professional medical advice from a healthcare provider is necessary.

Ringworm, a fungal skin condition, is often influenced by underlying imbalances in the body’s doshas, particularly kapha and pitta, which govern factors like moisture and heat. In cases of recurrence, addressing these imbalances may be crucial alongside conventional treatments. In Siddha-Ayurvedic practice, it’s important to focus on bolstering your body’s immune response and creating an environment where the fungi cannot thrive.

First, diet plays a crucial role. Try to reduce consumption of foods that might increase kapha and pitta, such as dairy, sugary, oily, and spicy foods. Incorporate more fresh veggies, whole grains, and certain spices like turmeric, which has antifungal properties.

Secondly, you can consider using herbal remedies. Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves, with their antifungal characteristics, can be quite beneficial. You might prepare a paste with neem leaves and apply it to the affected area daily. Another useful option is applying a paste made from turmeric and raw honey directly on the lesion. Keep in mind, however, that the skin should be dry before applying these.

Maintaining the skin dry and clean is essential; wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and avoid synthetic materials that trap moisture. Sunlight also helps reduce moisture.

It’s also recommended to boost your bodily agni, or digestive fire, to improve overall metabolism and immune function. Sipping warm ginger tea or using trikatu (a combination of long pepper, black pepper, and ginger) may be useful in enhancing this energy.

Lastly, consistent lifestyle habits such as maintaining a regular sleep schedule and stress management through yoga can be effective in supporting your immune system. But, if conditions worsen, it’s vital to consult with a healthcare professional who can help assess the need for more aggressive antifungal therapy.
