Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
Osteoarthritis is often linked with an imbalance in Vata dosha, which governs movement and is associated with qualities like dryness and irregularity. When Vata is aggravated, it can lead to joint pain, stiffness, and degeneration of tissues, as seen in osteoarthritis. The lack of relief from Dhanvandhari tailam or Kaitamchukkadi tail suggests that the current treatment may not be adequately pacifying the aggravated Vata or addressing the deeper imbalance.
In Ayurveda, pain and stiffness are viewed as signs of Vata’s cold and dry qualities affecting the joints. This can be exacerbated by lifestyle factors such as irregular eating habits, stress, and insufficient rest, which further disturb Vata. Additionally, if digestion is weak, it can lead to the accumulation of ama (toxins), which can settle in the joints and worsen symptoms.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.

Both thailam can be used for vata rogas. If you didn’t get relief means you should take take some internal medicines for vata anulomana. 1. Amruthothatam kashayam for 1 week - 15ml + 45 ml lukewarm water twice daily half an hour before food. This will help to relieve inflammatory conditions if any. 2. Kottamchukkadi tailam + kethaki mooladi tailam is very much effective in OA. First double boil the tailam and apply over the knee area and massage for 10-15 minutes minimum and then hot water compress with a cotton cloth. 3. Sallaki tab 1-0-1 after food if pain is severe. 4. Yogaraja guggulu 1-0-1 before food for 1 month. Do some knee strengthening exercises. Take care, Dr. Shaniba
