Hi Nithya,
Can you share more about your daily routine, such as your diet, exercise habits, and any current health concerns like joint pain or digestion issues? How often do you feel hungry throughout the day, and are there any foods that seem to trigger weight gain for you?
To help reduce weight, Ayurveda recommends a Pitta-pacifying diet with foods like kitchari, plenty of vegetables, and avoiding heavy, oily, or spicy foods. Triphala can support digestion, and Guggulu or Gokshura can aid in weight management and joint health. Regular physical activity, such as walking or yoga, and mindful eating practices will also promote healthy weight loss. Drink warm water throughout the day and focus on portion control.
Hi Nithya, Can you detail more about your daily dincharya, such as your diet, exercise habits, and any current health concerns like body ache or digestion issues? Hi Nithya Taking triphala regularly without medical advice is not a good option Can follow the simple steps ( consistency is the key factor for the Results)
Balanced Diet: Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and Pulses. Avoid sugary, fried, and processed foods and maida foods
Hydration: Drink 2-3 liters of water daily. Try jeera, methi, or chia seed water to improve the digestion
Exercise: Do Surya Namaskar (start with 5 counts) and engage in 30 minutes.(5 Days in a week for atleast 30 to 35 min each day ) start low impact exercises like brisk walking, yoga, or Zumba
Joint Care: Include calcium-rich foods (milk, curd, sesame seeds) and apply Mahanarayana thaila or medicated oil for relief.
Lifestyle: Maintain a healthy weight, get 7-8 hours of sleep, and manage stress with pranayama. For PMS Prefer fresh cut fruits than juices Take hot water showers Have Hot Jeera water through out the day Alovera juice (Fresh ) Reduce Salt and Caffeine Apply castor oil or warm compress to the abdomen to relieve cramps. Using Triphala can be a supportive element in a weight reduction journey, but it’s important to also look at diet, lifestyle, and overall health to achieve lasting results. Triphala, a traditional Ayurvedic herbal formula composed of three fruits — Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki — is known for its many benefits including digestive health and supporting natural detoxification processes in the body.
If you’re considering taking Triphala daily, it can be generally safe for most people, but I would recommend starting with a lower dosage to see how your body responds. Typically, you can take about 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder mixed in warm water. Take it preferably at night before bed for its best effectiveness in cleansing and promoting digestive health. It should help in subtly balancing your digestive fire (Agni) and aid in detoxification, supporting the natural way body manages weight. But I advise you to check with an Ayurvedic practitioner because individual needs can veryyy greatly based on your dosha, which could be Vata, Pitta or Kapha predominant.
For weight reduction, focusing on a balanced diet is key. Include more whole grains, fresh fruits, and vegetables, and avoid processed foods high in refined sugars and trans fats. Practicing mindful eating, eating slowly, and stopping when you’re satisfied, can also be impactful. Engaging in regular physical activity, like brisk walking, yoga or any enjoyable exercise can help promote healthy weight loss.
Joint pain, if it’s an issue, may also benefit from Triphala’s anti-inflammatory properties, but again regular exercise focused on strengthening and flexibility, such as yoga, can be particularly useful. Also, ensuring adequate intake of healthy fats, such as those from nuts and seeds, can support both joint health and metabolism.
Remember, these are just general suggestions. Since Ayurveda emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual, direct consultation with a local Ayurvedic expert would be ideal, ensuring that any new regimen is perfectly aligned with your unique body constitution and health profile. It’s not just about losing weight but doing it in a way that your mind and body feel balanced and energetic!
