If you're experiencing frequent bloating, digestive discomfort, and tiredness, it's really essential to explore the root causes, and in Ayurveda, this often has to do with imbalances in your doshas, especially Pitta and Vata. First, I'd recommend focusing on strengthening your Agni (digestive fire), which can be weakened due to lifestyle factors or food choices. Start by considering the timing and regularity of your meals. Eating at consistent times each day can help regulate your Agni. Try to avoid eating heavy meals late at night, as digestion is weaker then. Ensure your largest meal is taken during midday when digestion is strongest. Since you're on a vegetarian diet, it's important to ensure your diet is balanced. Pay attention to Agni-supporting spices like cumin, ginger, fennel, and coriander. They can be added to your meals to help improve digestion and reduce bloating. Simply adding a half teaspoon of fennel seeds in hot water and sipping it can be beneficial after a meal. Consider the state of your Vata and Pitta doshas. Bloating can often be a sign of Vata imbalance, while the tiredness may indicate a Pitta issue affecting your metabolism. Keep your mind and body calm by practicing grounding activities like yoga and pranayama – alternative nostril breathing might help in calming Vata. Additionally, avoid raw and cold foods as they can aggravate Vata further. Opt for cooked, warm, and simple meals. Food intolerances might also contribute to your symptoms, so monitor your reactions to certain foods like dairy and gluten, which can be known to aggravate digestion in some individuals. Avoid drinking water right before or after meals; instead, drink it in small sips throughout the day to aid in digestion. You may also want to examine your stress levels since stress is a notorious disruptor of digestion and energy levels. Lastly, consider consulting with an Ayurvedic practitioner for an in-depth consultation, they may recommend specific herbs like Triphala or Ashwagandha that could support your digestion and energy concerns based on your constitution. If symptoms persist, it is important to seek professional medical advice, as conditions like food intolerances or IBS might also be a factor.
