Psoriasis is indeed a persistent condition, characterized by its chronic nature and tendency to recur. In Ayurveda, this is often linked to an imbalance of the Vata and Kapha doshas, along with the accumulation of Ama (toxins) in the body. The focus is typically on internal detoxification and balancing the doshas through diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies. Firstly, consider your diet. Go for warm, easily digestible foods, avoiding processed, fried, and overly-spicy foods, as they can aggravate the condition. Include more bitter and astringent flavors, like leafy greens and herbs such as neem and turmeric that aid in detoxification and purifying the blood. Consumption of ghee may help as it may support skin health and improve digestion. Incorporate a daily routine that includes Abhyanga, or self-massage, with herbal oils such as Neem or coconut oil which has cooling properties and can soothe the inflammation. Alongside, you might also consider regular body detox programs like Panchakarma under the supervision of experienced Ayurvedic practitioners to cleanse the system more deeply. Practices like yoga and meditation, whilst not a direct treatment, are important as they help in managing stress, which often triggers psoriasis flare-ups. Pranayama, or deep breathing exercises, is particularly beneficial. Ensure regular exposure to morning sunlight for Vitamin D, but moderation is key to not worsen skin conditions. As you mentioned persistent black spots, it's essential to also take care of skin hydration, perhaps using aloe vera gel. Lastly, be patient with these therapies because they work slowly yet aim to address the root cause. Keep in mind that chronic conditions requires consistent, sustained efforts and sometimes individual treatment plans may not suits, hence consulting an experienced Ayurvedic physician for a personalized approach is crucial. While Ayurveda offers powerful strategies, in severe cases, combining modern medicine with Ayurveda might produce better results, so maintaining open communication with your healthcare providers to ensure a harmonious approach, balancing both systems, can be quite beneficial.
