Pain in the right upper side of the abdomen, just under the ribs. - #21368
I have been experiencing an acute pain in my right upper abdomen, right under my rib cage. which stretch s over my back and should until the middle of my spine. It's a burning feeling and every time I move the pain is worst. When I eat or drink , I feel very nauseous. I drink a lot of water everyday and don't take any other medicine, except 'night calm', which helps me sleep. The pain never subsided. My bladder fulls up ready fast just with a few sips of water, so urination is often.

Hello Katherine

Hello
Better to go with USG Abd and pelvis
Thank you
Because the pain is severe, radiating, and persistent with urinary symptoms, you should:
Get an abdominal ultrasound (liver, gallbladder, kidneys)
Get a urine test (routine + culture)
Blood tests: LFTs (liver function), KFTs (kidney function), CBC, Lipase/Amylase (pancreatic enzymes)
If you develop fever, vomiting, dark urine, pale stools, or yellowish eyes/skin, go to the ER—those are signs of gallbladder/liver crisis
Advising USG ABDOMEN -PELVIS to see Pathology.
Experiencing such acute pain in the right upper abdomen that extends to the back and shoulder can be concerning and may be indicative of conditions like gallstones, liver issues, or even more serious conditions like pancreatitis. Given the symptoms you describe, particularly the nausea and worsening pain with movement, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention to rule out any emergency conditions like a gallbladder attack or kidney stones. The quick sensation of a full bladder and frequent urination might be unrelated but still noteworthy to mention to your healthcare provider for a complete evaluation.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, the symptoms you’ve described could be linked to an imbalance in Pitta dosha, which often manifests as burning sensations and nausea. However, before considering any Ayurvedic treatments, it is crucial that a thorough medical evaluation occurs first. Seeing your healthcare provider promptly will help determine the nature of your symptoms and initiate necessary medical interventions if required.
Once any urgent conditions have been ruled out, Ayurveda offers several approaches to balance Pitta and support digestive health. You might consider incorporating cooling and soothing herbs such as mint and fennel into your meals. Sipping on cooled cumin coriander fenugreek seed tea could also be helpful for balancing Pitta. Avoiding spicy, oily, or overly acidic foods will prevent further irritation. Ensure your meals are light and easy to digest to prevent aggravating your symptoms.
Your frequent urination and sensation of a full bladder might suggest an aggravated Vata dosha influence. Introducing warm cooked foods, and regular meal times might help manage this. Ensure a calming evening routine and continue to use calming therapies like a warm bath before sleep. Nevertheless, these are secondary to addressing the urgent pain with your primary health provider.
Remember, any self-treatment should be followed only after a definitive medical analysis. Your safety and health come first, always.
