how to use anu taila - #25153

Riley

I am feeling really confused about how to use anu taila. A couple weeks ago, I was at this Ayurvedic retreat and they mentioned it for nasal health, but I totally blanked on how to actually use it. It’s suppose to be really beneficial for so many things, plus I heard it can help with headaches and overall balance or something? I tried finding videos online, but they all seem to say different stuff! 😕 Last night, my sinuses were acting up, and I thought maybe I could try using anu taila like they suggested, but I didn't really know if I should use it in the morning or evening. And like, how much should I put in? Do I sniff it, or put it in my nose somehow? Also, I'm a little concerned cause sometimes I feel more stuffy after using oils, so I'm just wondering if there’s a certain way to use anu taila without messing it up? Any help would be super appreciated!!

Anu Taila is indeed a wonderful remedy in Ayurveda for nasal health and can offer relief from headaches, sinus issues, and help in overall balance by regulating doshas, particularly Vata and Kapha. Let's get into how you can use it effectively. Firstly, timing plays an essential role—ideally, it's used in the morning as a part of your daily routine (Dinacharya), preferably after brushing your teeth and cleansing your mouth, when body is upright and awake. However, if you're seeking relief from immediate symptoms like a headache or blocked sinuses, it can be applied in the evening too, but do ensure that it's not right before bed as you may want to clear any nasal discomfort throughout the day. Regarding the usage, gently warm the oil by placing the bottle in a mug of hot water to ensure it's at body temperature. It should not be hot, just comfortably warm. Lie down on a flat surface with a pillow under your neck for slight back tilt. Put 2 to 3 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril. After placing the drops, gently sniff them inward to ensure it reaches the sinus cavities effectively. Remember, it’s not about pouring large quantities, it's the right absorption that matters. If you feel stuffy after using oils generally, it might be due to excess quantity or cold weather. Ensure the oil is properly warmed, and start with lesser quantity if needed. A little trial and error might help you fine-tune what works best for you. Lastly, pause and observe how your body is responding to the oil. If there’s increase in stiffness, discuss it with an Ayurvedic practitioner to assess your dosha balance and suggest adjustments in oil or routine. While Anu Taila is generally safe, personal constitution varies, and sometimes customizations are needed. Avoid using immediately if there's active infection or if discomfort persists.
