Sinusitis being triggered by dust and climate is common, and your symptoms suggest Kapha dosha imbalance. The presence of nasal polyps might be contributing to the blockage, particularly during the night. Anuthailam can be useful, but it might not be suitable for everyone right away, especially if it causes sneezing. You might consider reducing the amount you’re using or warming it up slightly before application, to see if that helps.
Dhaśamulakatutrayādi Kashayam is beneficial for respiratory ailments with its anti-inflammatory properties. Typically, for kashayam preparations, use about 15 ml of the kashayam, mixing with an equal quantity of warm water, and consume twice daily before meals. Check the label on your bottle as formulations can vary, or consult your Ayurvedic practitioner for specific guidance.
Incorporating certain daily habits may help - regular steam inhalation to clear mucus, and maintain humidity with a humidifier, if air is too dry. In Ayurveda, Nasya (nasal administration of medication) can support sinus clearing, but consult with your practitioner, as they might suggest an alternative preparation more suitable for your unique constitution.
From dietary perspective, favor warm, light and easily digestible foods - soups and broths. Avoid cold, heavy and greasy foods as they can increase Kapha. Incorporate herbs like turmeric and ginger into your meals for their anti-inflammatory properties. Stay warm: keeping your self-warm, especially your feet, can reduce Kapha accumulation. Steer clear from air-conditioning if possible.
Limiting direct exposure to dust is crucial, consider wearing masks during heavy dust conditions and ensure your sleeping area is regularly cleaned and free from allergens. Always consult a medical professional for persistent symptoms or if your condition worrsens.
Sinusitis accompanied by nasal polyps can indeed be quite troublesome. In this scenario, the aggravated Kapha dosha seems to be at play, with your system likely responding strongly to cold and damp conditions like monsoon, or to allergens like dust. The practice of using anuthailam for nasal congestion aligns with Ayurvedic treatment, but if it’s causing more discomfort or sneezing, it might exacerbate the already sensitive mucous membranes. You may want to discontinue if the symptoms persist, and focus on gentler alternatives to soothe the nasal passages.
The Dhasmulakatutrayadi Kashayam you mentioned can assist in pacifying Kapha and Vata dosha, offering relief from sinus congestion. Normally, the recommended dosage is about 15 to 20 ml of kashayam mixed with an equal amount of water, consumed twice daily before meals. However, considering the individual variability, it is always prudent to adjust the dosage based on personal tolerance and response.
To further help with sinus relief, consider steam inhalation with a couple of drops of eucalyptus or clove oil, which can help clear nasal passageways. Dietary adjustments like reducing dairy, processed, and excessively cold foods may also reduce Kapha build-up. Including foods with a warm and light quality can aid overall digestion and support body balance. Ensuring warm surroundings, particularly avoiding direct airflow during sleep, can also help alleviate your symptoms.
If polyps continue to bother, it’s beneficial to consult an ENT specialist for a thorough evaluation. Ayurvedic remedies aim for holistic balance, but ensuring there’s no urgent underlying issue is crucial. Prioritize safety and holistic health balance in any strategies you adopt.
