Your stomach and intestines are like a cooking pot- food goes in the digestive fire cooks it, and the body absorbs nuteints

If this fire becomes too weak, too strong, or irregular digestion gets disturbed -when Agni is weak, food stays undigested-> ama (toxins) from -> leads to bloating, heaviness, constipation -when Agni is too strong, it burns too fast-> acidity, acid reflux, burning , loose motions -When Agni is irregular, digestion becomes uunpredictable-> IBS - type alternating constipation and diarrhea

Ayurveda teaches that almost all gut issues arise from -faulty food habits -unhealthy routine -mental stress -suppression of natural urge -improper detox or overuse of medicines/antibiotics

TREATMENT GOALS -normalize agni- restore balanced digestion -remove ama (toxins)- clear waste from the body -balance the doshas -heal and strengthen gut lining -regulate lifestyle and stress to prevent recurrence

INTERNAL MEDICATIONS

1) TRIPHALA CHURNA= 1 tsp with warm water at bedtime for 3 months =gentle detox, relieves constipation, tones intestines

2) AVIPATTIKAR CHURNA= 1/2 tsp before meals with warm water for 3 months =reduces acidity, balances pitta, aids digestion

3) HINGWASTAKA CHURNA= 1/4 tsp before meals with ghee for 2 months =improves appetite, reduces gas and bloating

4) SHATAVARI CHURNA= 1 tsp with milk twice daily for 2 months =soothes gut lining, balances excess acid

5) KUTAJGHAN VATI= 2 tabs twice daily after meals till stools normalize =controls loose motions, improves intestinal tone

PANCHAKARMA FOR DETOX

1) VIRECHANA= removes excess pitta; best for acidity and burning 2)BASTI= for chronic constipation and IBS, balances vata 3) VAMANA= for kapha type sluggish digestion

EXTERNAL TREATMENT 1) OIL MASSAGE= daily with warm sesame oil =calms vata, improves bowel regularity

2) STEAM= after massage 15 min =opens channels, aids detox

DIET -fresh, warm cooked meals; avoid leftover -moong dal khichdi, rice, ghee, boiled vegetables -use spice like cumin, coriander, fennel ginger, ajwain- they kindle agni -ghee 1 tsp/day- lubricates intestines and heals mucosa -coconut water, pomegranate juice, buttermilk- restore gu flora -warm water throughout the day, especially after meals

AVOID -cold drinks, ice creams, raw salads especially at night -fermented , fried, very spicy or sour foods -excess tea, coffee, alcohol, tobacco -eating while stressed or distracted -sleeping immediately after meals.

HOME REMEDIES 1) GINGER TEA -boil 1 inch of fresh ginger in a cup of water, add honey when cool =improves digestion, reduces bloating

2)CUMIN-CORIANDER-FENNEL WATER -1 tsp of each in 1 L of water-> boil -> sip through the day =balances all doshas, supports digestion

3) ALOE VERA JUICE (2 tbsp before breakfast) =soothes hyperacidity, heals gut lining

4) AJWAIN + BLACK SALT- 1/4 tsp each =chew after meals-> relieves gas and indigestion

YOGA ASANAS

FOR ACIDITY= vajrasana, bhujangasana, supta baddha konasana FOR CONSTIPATION= pawanmuktasana, malasana, uttanasana FOR BLOATING= ardha matsyendrasana, trikonasana, setu bandhasana

PRANAYAM -Anulom vilom= balances all doshas, calms gut -sheetali/sheetkari= cooling for aciity -kapalbhati= stimulates digestion -bhramari= reduces stress and improves digestion indirectly

Start with - 1. Licorice powder (Yasthimadhu) 1 tsp Twice A Day 30 minutes before food 2. Shankh Vati 1 Tab Twice A Day after food 3. Amalpitta mishran 2tsp at Night with warm water.

First, let’s tackle the diet. Prioritize warm, cooked meals and avoid raw, cold, and processed foods as they can weaken digestion. Introducing spices such as ginger, cumin, and fennel in your meals can stimulate agni. You might find a decoction of fresh ginger and lemon juice, consumed 15 minutes before meals, very beneficial for reducing acid reflux.

For acidity and acid reflux, consider incorporating aloe vera juice—take about 20ml on an empty stomach in the morning. To balance vata and prevent bloating and constipation, drink warm water throughout the day. Try to include ghee in your meals to lubricate the intestines; a tablespoon of castor oil at bedtime can also help alleviate constipation safely.

Loose motions require grounding foods like bananas and plain rice. A mixture of buttermilk with a pinch of rock salt and roasted cumin powder is effective for restoring gut health and regulating digestion.

Mindful eating is as important as what you consume. Eat slowly, in a calm environment. Establish a routine, having meals at regular intervals—this aligns your biological clock to your digestion. Avoid overeating; leave 1/3 of your stomach empty to aid digestion.

Lifestyle contributes significantly. Engage in daily yoga and pranayama practices, focusing on stress-reducing asanas like ‘Pavanamuktasana’. Stress is a notable aggravator of all digestive problems. Ensure you’re getting adequate sleep; a restorative sleep routine is crucial as it regulates metabolism and aids recovery.
