While genes can play a role in vision issues, there are several Ayurvedic approaches that may help in maintaining or improving your sons’ vision naturally. Ayurvedic perspective regard vision related to the Pitta dosha, and it emphasizes the importance of balancing this element.

First, ensure your kids consume a diet rich in eye-nourishing foods. Include vegetables like carrots and green leafy ones, which are high in Vitamin A and lutein. Almonds, rich in Vitamin E, and Triphala, an Ayurvedic herbal preparation, can also be beneficial. You might prepare a simple Triphala eyewash by boiling 1 teaspoon of Triphala powder in a cup of water, straining it, and using once it’s cooled. Apply this solution gently to their eyes.

Next, practice Ayurvedic eye exercises to strengthen their eyes. Encourage your sons to practice palming: rub their hands together for warmth and place them over their closed eyes for a few minutes. Also, they can do eye circles, first clockwise then anticlockwise, to enhance flexibility.

Also, reducing screen time is crucial. Prolonged exposure to screens can strain young eyes leading to visual fatigue. Implementing the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, shift their eyes to something 20 feet away for 20 seconds) can greatly reduce strain.

Furthermore, ensure a good sleep schedule to let their eyes rest sufficiently. Proper hydration is also essential – make sure they drink adequate water throughout the day to maintain systemic fluid balance, crucial for eye health.

Don’t forget to give them regular breaks during reading or studying, ensuring they are sitting in a properly lit environment. Finally, if they experience significant vision changes, consult an ophthalmologist for a professional evaluation to prevent potential issues from escalating.
