Considering your son’s condition of adenoids and tonsillitis, Ayurvedic approaches can sometimes provide a complementary and supportive strategy, though severe breathing trouble always requires professional medical attention. However, there are certain approaches in Ayurveda that may help alleviate some symptoms like snoring and nasal congestion.

Begin by addressing any dietary habits that could be contributing to kapha dosha imbalance. Use warm food and drinks that are easy to digest—soups, herbal teas like ginger and tulsi, and light, freshly cooked meals. Avoid cold, heavy, oily, or processed foods, as they tend to increase kapha and may exacerbate mucus production.

Try incorporating nasya therapy, an ancient Ayurveda practice that involves administering herbal oil or ghee into the nostrils. Anu Taila is a classical Ayurvedic formulation that can help reduce nasal congestion. Administer 2-3 drops of Anu Taila in each nostril in the morning, especially after steaming the nose with warm water. This should be done on an empty stomach, and your son should lie down for a few minutes after application to allow absorption.

For gargling, use warm water infused with turmeric and a pinch of rock salt. Perform this twice a day to help soothe the throat and reduce inflammation.

Incorporate gentle pranayama breathing exercises in the daily routine if possible; these could potentially ease breathing difficulties when practiced regularly. However, ensure any exercise is suitable for his age and condition and consult with a yoga practitioner for guidance.

Regularly monitor your son’s symptoms and ensure he is under continuous observation by a pediatrician. If symptoms persist or worsen, surgical intervention might eventually be necessary. Always prioritize open communication with his healthcare provider to balance traditional and modern medical approaches for your son’s health.

Thanks so much for clarifying this! I had no idea mixing meds could be risky. I'll stick to my doctor's meds and look into Ayurveda separately.
