Doctors' responses
Given the critical condition of your niece with hydrocephalus and continued brain pressure issues, I must emphasize the importance of adhering to her allopathic treatment under professional medical supervision, particularly regarding the management of the VP shunt and any cranial pressures. Nonetheless, Ayurveda can offer supportive care in harmony with conventional treatment for overall well-being and to promote balance in her body systems.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, hydrocephalus might relate to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, affecting the nervous system and cerebral fluids. If seeking herbal support, Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) can be helpful as it’s known to support cognitive health. However, dosages and exact formulations must be tailored to her unique needs under an Ayurvedic practiotioner. This is crucial to avoid any adverse interactions with her current treatment.
Moreover, gentle Panchakarma therapies like Abhyanga (Ayurvedic massage) with medicated oils could assist in relaxing the body and calming Vata disturbances, but such treatments should be done under expert guidance. Daily dietary structuring to include warm, light meals that enhance digestive fire (Agni) without aggravating the doshas, like including ginger tea or cooked vegetables, can indirectly support immune health.
Regarding consultation at Arya Vaidya Sala, Kottakkal, Kerala, contacting them directly is advisable since they have a structured protocol for consulting with overseas patients. You may reach out via their official website or contact number for accurate guidance on patient admission and treatment plans.
In summary, while Ayurveda can provide supportive care, especially in balancing body-mind conditions, it must be carefully aligned with prior medical advice to ensure the safety and efficacy of treatments. Immediate conventional medical intervention remains primary in managing conditions like shunt malfunction and intracranial pressure issues.
